Kapamilya artist Elisse Joson, during the media conference for their upcoming iWant TFC series, The Goodbye Girl, on February 4, shared how being a mother made her braver when choosing acting roles.
Joson said her acting range widened now that she’s a mother herself.
“Sa ngayon, I feel like mas nag-widen pa nga ‘yung pwede kong gawin in terms of characters and roles. Kasi before I felt so limited. Ngayon parang naging mas matapang na ako in terms of that.
“Pero syempre, depende pa rin. I mean there are limitations. There are going to be limitations for that, but now I don’t feel boxed. So mas gusto ko pa ngang madaming iba-ibang character na gawin.”
She then highlighted how she uses her personal experiences when portraying roles depending on the situation.
“Sa akin, depende talaga sa kung anong kailangan sa eksena so sometimes when I feel like I can use my personal experience, I will use it to my advantage. And sometimes, kung matagal na kasi ‘yung experience na ‘yun ang hirap nang ipa-resurface.
“So sometimes it doesn’t work. Pag ganon, siyempre I’ll use other methods that I can para magawa ‘yung eksena, but totoo naman talaga na nagagamit ‘yung personal experience and maganda din pag nagamit talaga.”
Joson then admitted having struggles with balancing and juggling her career as an actress and a mother.
“‘Yun actually ‘yung tina-try ko pa rin i-master. I think it takes time to learn how to balance things. Kasi prior to being a mom, ‘yun ‘yung isa ko ding struggle, ‘yung pag-balance na nga, wala pa akong anak noon, but it’s hard for me to like balance and prioritize schedules.”
She then clarified that her instincts to balance different aspects of her life would come naturally over time, citing that it’s a “superpower” unique to mothers.
“Pero ngayon na mayroon na akong anak, I think it’s going to flow naturally, na parang kailangan mo talagang ma-juggle lahat. So, ‘yung mind ko parang nandoon na talaga sa point na I have to think of what’s important to do for this day, and then doon pa lang ako magmo-move forward. I don’t try to like think of everything all at once kasi ang hirap gawin nun ng sabay-sabay.
“But I think ‘yun ‘yung isa sa mga superpowers ng mga mothers, ang mag-balance at mag-juggle ng bagay-bagay.”
In November 2021, Joson and her beau McCoy De Leon publicly announced having their daughter Felize.
She stars in the Legally Blind episode of iWanr TFC’s The Goodbye Girl with the Kapamilya actor Joshua Colet. Her episode is a part of the iWant TFC digital series based on Noreen Capili’s best-selling book.
