Showbiz royalty Mark Anthony Fernandez and Diego Loyzaga on Friday, February 18, admitted that they feel their parents have something to do with them scoring projects.
Both Fernandez and Loyzaga suspected that in a way, they got lucky because of their celebrity parents.
Fernandez is the child of the late action star Rudy Fernandez and actress Alma Moreno, while Loyzaga is of Cesar Montano and actress-singer Teresa Loyzaga.
In the virtual media conference of an upcoming movie Adarna Gang, Fernandez believed that people see him as his father.
“Minsan feeling ko nga po nandoon ako sa isang project not because of really me, but because of Rudy Fernandez my father, parang ganoon. So ginagaya ko ang acting niya parang ganoon,” he shared.
The actor also said that his parents may have influenced him but he also got his wisdom and knowledge through his “second family.”
“Ako facial feature siguro nang mama ko mga 60% or vice versa siguro sa papa ko 60%. I think physically marami akong nakuha. S’yempre yung wisdom nang mama at papa ko nasa akin din, may porsyento din. Pero siyempre meron akong second mother, second father, yung school.”
This was seconded by Loyzaga. On the other hand, he pointed out that his primary influence was his mother due to the time spent with her.
“I feel you Kuya Mark. Well, I grew up with my mom. So I think most of my personality was built from what I saw at an early age, living with my mom, surrounded by—puro mga babae aside from my older brother. So I guess I got that personality from them,” said Loyzaga.
In terms of facial features, however, it was obvious that he got it from his dad. The young actor also admitted he “picked up” a few things when he stayed with his father.
The actor also felt that his accomplishments were because of his father. Loyzaga even stressed that he wanted to be as good, if not better, than Montano.
“But I feel Kuya Mark in the sense when he said, ‘I guess I’ll always be living to…’ I’m a fan of my dad! I mean I watch his films and he made it to Hollywood, isn’t that the dream? I strive to you know, one day be like I can also say as good as him, or better, or just be in a caliber of artists, or be respected as an artist.
“I guess I got both of both worlds…the good of both worlds. But then I’m also always parang trying to strive to be better than that, to go beyond that.”
Adarna Gang also stars Coleen Garcia, Ronnie Lazaro, and newbie Rob Guinto. The movie is under the direction of John Red and will be available for streaming via Vivamax, on March 11.
