In the recently held Kapamilya Strong on Wednesday, February 23, Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi said he will be giving his entire focus and energy to the talents who chose to stay with ABS-CBN.
“I’d also like to say na para sa akin mas importante ang mga kasama ko dito. I don’t like to even, you know, spend my energy and my time thinking about the people who left.
“Because you know, they’ve decided to move on and do something else. I’d like to pour my energy, and my focus, and my love, to the ones who are here. Kasi yun naman ang importante eh, yung kasama mo ngayon sa hirap at sa ginhawa,” he said.
ABS-CBN’s shut down in 2020 has resulted in an exodus of talents and staff, making Dyogi realize that it is far more important to prioritize those who have stayed.
“The loss of the franchise gave us a lot of insight into what’s more important in our lives and who are the people who are also important, and who value that relationship. So ‘yon muna ang tinitignan ko,” stressed the Star Magic head.
However, he does not blame those who have left considering that the shutdown happened during the pandemic.
“I would always respect the decision of every individual. Kasi hindi ko naman hawak yung buhay nang bawat isa sa kanila. I mean they made decisions based on their life circumstances.
“Hindi na natin make-kwestyon ‘yon, kung may pangangailangan sila or meron silang plano sa buhay nila na sa tingin nila hindi maibibigay ng ABS and Star Magic, I mean, that’s there option,” expressed Dyogi.
Given the nature of the industry, the Kapamilya executive does not close the door for them.
“In the future, I can’t say. Sino ba tayo? We don’t know what the future—what’s there—maliit ang naman ang industriya nang entertainment. So hindi ako magsasalita nang tapos na it’s for good, na never na ulit magkakasama.”
Dyogi added, “But for now, we would like ABS and Star Magic to focus on the artists who decided to stay and be with us, and journey with us, and commit to being part of this very interesting and very challenging—pero alam natin na pagkatapos nito… I think we’ve gone through the worse already. Paahon na kami at exciting times are just ahead.”
Artists Jolina Magdangal, Shaina Magdayao, Zanjoe Marudo, Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, Erich Gonzalez, Ronnie Alonte, and Loisa Andalio signed their respective contract renewals with Star Magic. Singers Gary Valenciano and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid also partook in the event.
