During the virtual media conference of the upcoming sexy film Sisid on Friday, January 14, its cast and director all pointed that there is more to the content of Vivamax than just nudity.
Former beauty queen turned sexy actress Kylie Versoza stressed that “beyond” the sexiness of a movie.
“Many of these films are not even sexy films pero their marketed in a certain way. But beyond the sexiness of the film, maganda ang k’wento na dinudulot ng Sisid at ibang film na ginagawa ng Vivamax,” she said.
Furthermore, she stated that the absence of any censorship on the online platform allows Vivamax the liberty to create more straightforward content.
“Dahil nga nasa online platform ito, mas matapang kami gumawa ng content, mas liberating, mas freeing, mas kakaiba yung content na nagagawa namin. And nasho-showcase yung iba’t-ibang klase ng problema na makikita rin natin gaya sa Sisid.”
It was also agreed by her co-star Paolo Gumabao. He noted that they [really] mirror reality through the films. He also stressed that movies by Viva portray real-life situations like love and lust in a relationship.
“Totoo naman eh. Magkasama ang love and lust, it’s always gonna be there. When there’s love, there’s lust. Like I said na they focus on the reality, yun ang pinapakita namin coz’ films are supposed to mirror reality.”
Vince Rillon, who is also included in Sisid was fine with the judgment that most Filipinos have in Vivamax’s films. However, he insisted that the consistency to tell a story in every sexy movie will always be there.
“Pero hindi porke’t nagpalabas kami ng sexy eh puro sexy na. Nangingibabaw pa rin ang kuwento and I’m sure kapag napanuod nila ito, masakit bandang huli yung twist into.”
Sexy star Christine Bermas concluded that viewers have no understanding of the real story behind the Vivamax films. She then assured them that a work of an award-winning director such as Brillante Mendoza is far from softcore pornography.
“Siguro doon lang sila nagfo-focus sa mga sexy scenes, hindi nila nage-gets yung point nang story. Dito sa Sisid, hindi siya yung parang ganoon kabastos tignan. Alam naman namin na maayos ‘tong story nang Sisid ni Direk Brillante.”
Meanwhile, Direk Brillante admitted that sex does sell itself to Filipinos. However, it is a director’s responsibility to show its significance to the story.
“Ang responsibility doon kung yun ang nafo-focus in terms of pinag-uusapan ng mga nanunuod o hindi nanunuod, ang sa akin do’n is to take it from there as a filmmaker and as an artist na gumagawa sa Vivamax, okay.
“Kung ‘yan ay parte ng buhay, parte ng k’wento, dapat hindi ka lang mag-focus doon. So that when they watch the film, even if they see sexy scenes, alam nila na parang hindi mo ginawa ‘yon dahil gusto mo lang gawin kundi kailangan siyang gawin, it’s very much part of the story,” he explained.
Sisid will begin streaming on Vivamax, January 19.
