Theater actor Jonathan Ivan Rivera admitted on Wednesday, February 9, that doing the Boy’s Love (BL) movie Finding Daddy Blake put some pressure on his part.
The movie was based on the notorious “Daddy Blake” wherein he lures actors and models into believing that they will receive money if they recorded themselves masturbating. Unfortunately, many fell into his trap, and up until now, the culprit is yet to be caught.
Meanwhile, Rivera had a friend who fell into a similar scheme.
“It’s very close to heart na nakaka-pressure. Because I have a friend na na-victim ng ganitong scheme,” Rivera shared during the media conference of the film.
It also added some pressure, knowing that his friend suffered from depression because of the experience.
“So nang nilapit sa’kin ‘yon, and when he told me that story, ‘Wow!’ that person really goes through this mental… bagsak talaga. So yung pressure na there’s this role now to tell this story is scary.”
Finding Daddy Blake was based on real events that occurred at the pandemic’s start. Two teenagers, Elijah and Kokoy, victims of Daddy Blake, vowed to exact revenge on him. However, upon executing their plan, they realized that they were actually falling in love with each other.
The movie is led by critically acclaimed actress Rita Avila and award-winning actors Dexter Doria, Gio Alvarez, Oliver Aquino, and Carlos Dala.
The film will also include a new generation of talents.
Finding Daddy Blake is produced by international model, producer, and businessman Marc Cubales’ MC Production House. He will also act in the movie.
Cubales also intends it to be an entry for both local and international movie festivals and distributed through global digital streaming platforms.
