Last seen in the 2020 movie Mia, Coleen Garcia on Friday, February 18 clarified that she wanted to make a film even before the pandemic.
She is part of the lead cast in Viva’s Adarna Gang, and given her married life, “one thing happened and then another.”
“Well actually, sa totoo lang po, if I could have done it sooner, I would have. Actually itong script, it was shown to us before the pandemic, at I said yes before the pandemic pa,” she said during the virtual media conference of the movie.
Garcia, who was at the time, pregnant with her first-born Amari, also prioritized their safety amid the pandemic, stressing that it was never her intention to make it appear as a “comeback.”
“Actually buntis pa ako no’n, so you know, one thing happened and then another. Tapos ang hirap na mag-taping. I think kasi kung wala ang pandemic, we would have done this a lot sooner.
“It’s not that I wanted to wait for a comeback or anything. Pero talagang hindi kasi safe ngayon na mag-taping,” she explained.
She was excited to be part of a film that as long as the story is good, and no matter what the role is, she will be willing to accept.
“Yung mga sinabi ko dati na hindi ko gagawin ‘to, hindi ko gagawin ‘yan, yung mga sariling restrictions ko, I feel like now I’m more willing to experiment and I’m more willing to give what is needed for me for every story that I will be taking on.”
However, she also made it clear that she will still be choosing her roles.
“So parang, oo, pipili pa rin ako because I don’t want to be a part of something na hindi ako all-in. S’yempre dapat kung pipili ka nang project dapat todo bigay talaga, and I have to give everything. So definitely I have to pick the projects that I believe in para maibigay ko talaga lahat.”
Joining her in Adarna Gang are Ronnie Lazaro, Mark Anthony Fernandez, JC Santos, Diego Loyzaga, and newbie Rob Guinto.
The movie is directed by John Red and is set to premiere on March 11 on Vivamax.
