Filipino rapper Gloc-9 shared his reaction to celebrities getting canceled because of political affiliations during the media conference for his newest single, Paliwanag, on February 16.
Gloc-9 expressed that people shouldn’t impose their political beliefs on others.
“Nandoon pa din ako sa hindi mo pwedeng idikta sa ibang tao kung ano ‘yung paniniwala mo no matter how strong ‘yung opinion mo about something. It’s sad but it’s true na hindi natin pwedeng idikta ‘yun kasi may kanya-kanya tayong opinion.”
He added that people have different situations in life and that Pinoys should remain respectful with their discourse while sharing their political beliefs.
Gloc-9 acknowledged that it is frustrating to communicate with people who have closed themselves off from other opinions.
“It’s easier said than done, para sa akin medyo mahirap hindi mainis kapag ang kausap mo ay mas sarado pa sa padlock ang utak.”
He then shared his message to young artists afraid of Cancel Culture.
I think mahirap matakot yata.”
As for his latest single, Gloc-9 collaborates with Yeng Constantino the new single Paliwanag, arranged by Thyro Alfaro. The song under Universal Records streams on February 18, 2022, on all digital platforms.
