Now the number one TV drama in the country, the six-year-old program further solidified its lead by pulling away in the rating game.
After reclaiming its spot as the most-watched drama in the country, two years since ABS-CBN’s shutdown, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano further pulled away in the competition.
As things get more intense on the show, more viewers are returning and sticking with the show so they could not miss the unraveling confrontations between Task Force Agila and Samuel’s (Michael Flores) group, as well as the simmering chaos at the Presidential palace caused by the clashing political ambitions of Hipolito (John Arcilla) and Lily Hidalgo (Lorna Tolentino).
Last night, February 2, 2022, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano posted a rating of 12.2%, according to AGB Nielsen Philippines, based on the overnight National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) data. That figure is 1% ahead of the rating posted by the show’s Kapuso rival show, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, which recorded an 11.2% AGB NUTAM rating on the same night. The Heart Evangelista-starrer is notably down to its last two weeks when the Coco Martin-starred action drama halted its winning streak. FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s surprising return to the number one spot also coincides with the show’s record-breaking feats on YouTube, where the reigns supreme in terms of concurrent live viewers.
Titled ‘Salpukan’, the record-breaking episode featured the combined forces of Cardo Dalisay’s group and Armando’s (John Estrada) group pulling off a rescue mission to retrieve the latter’s female members, who are taken hostage by Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel) and his armed guards. A bloody exchange of shots took place when Samuel decided to make a detour from Dalisay’s plans. Samuel’s reckless actions didn’t prevent Dalisay group from saving Armando’s female group members, although it cost the life of Mara’s (Julia Montes) friend, Delia.
A dangerous tension seems to be evolving between Cardo and Samuel, which may ignite a future confrontation between the two and may cause the dismantling of Armando’s group.
That and future developments in the six-year-old Kapamilya show will most likely keep Cardo Dalisay’s winning streak in the rating’s game, despite the show’s limited free TV reach.
