Via a facebook post on Wednesday, February 9, former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Dawn Chang expressed her disappointment over Toni Gonzaga’s actions.
Gonzaga hosted the proclamation rally of presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. held on Tuesday, February 8 at the Philippine Arena.
Chang questioned why Gonzaga managed to give an introduction to Rodante Marcoleta, one of the lawmakers who pushed for her home Network, ABS-CBN’s broadcast shutdown.
She wrote, “It’s my greatest honor to verbalize what other people cannot say: I am deeply insulted and disappointed by the actions of my fellow Kapamilya actress Ms. Toni Gonzaga.
“Paano nyo po nasikmurang suportahan at tulungan ang mga taong may malupit na nakaraan sa kasaysayan ng bansa at sa pagkawala ng trabaho ng mga kasama natin sa industriya?”
Marcoleta was one of the most vocal lawmakers who showed disapproval for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal application in mid-2020.
“As a former PBB housemate, alam kong magtatampo nyan si Kuya.”
The dancer-actress then voiced out her support for presidential aspirant VP Leni Robredo and clarified that she’s not paid for it.
She continued, “I cannot remain quiet. Alam ng lahat ng artista na mas ‘safe’ ang manahimik na lamang. Pero hindi ko po kaya. Hindi pwede.
“It is my privilege to lend my small voice in this battle for the soul of our country. Kaya sa aking mga kapwa Pilipino, kay VP Leni Gerona Robredo po ang suporta ko. Hindi po ako binayaran dito.”
“If this is my biggest fight, then I will forever cherish standing up to what I believe in. Hindi po pera pera. Heto po ay laban ng prinsipyo. I want for all of us to say “Hello” to a better Philippines.
“Today, and always, I pray for everyone’s guidance. May He send us His true guardian angels.
“I will forever fight the good fight with all of my true kapamilyas and the Filipino people.”
On Wednesday, February 9, Gonzaga confirmed that she left Pinoy Big Brother through an Instagram post after hosting the show for 16 years.
Many Kapamilya employees and netizens also expressed their dismay toward Gonzaga’s hosting of the Marcos-Duterte proclamation.
