Filipino rock icon Dong Albay in a series of tweets on Sunday, February 13, ridiculed the supporters of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr because of how contradicting their beliefs are.
He started by pointing out the BBM supporters who kept complaining about the large taxes in the country were the ones they would vote for into the highest position in the Government–is “certified tax evader.”
Nagrereklamo ka sa taas ng buwis na binabayaran pero ang iboboto mo certified tax evader. #HuwagMagingLangawSaTae#NoToMarcosDuterte2022

Abay also lambasted them for voting a “magnanakaw.”
May pa-CCTV at doberman ka pa para di ka manakawan pero ang iboboto mo magnanakaw. #HuwagMagingLangawSaTae#NoToMarcosDuterte2022

He then added, “Nagtatrabaho kang mabuti para makapagtapos ang mga anak mo sa kolehiyo pero ang iboboto mo undergrad na batugang tambay.”

Abay then made fun of those believing that the Marcoses have in possession the famed Tallano Gold.
Naniniwala kang ang oras ay ginto pero nagpapauto kang may Tallano Gold. #HuwagMagingLangawSaTae#NoToMarcosDuterte2022

He also demonstrated how inconsistent Marcos’s supporters were by tweeting, “Naniniwala ka sa katotohanan ng mga salita ng Dios sa Biblia pero ang iboboto mo sinungaling.”

Sensing that he may be subject to criticism from BBM supporters, the rock icon explained that “he does not care.”
FYI: I'm not a social media influencer. I'm just a microblogging humorist. I'll speak my mind, just write and I don't fucking care if you have no sense of humor. #butthurtoftheworldunite

Was there truth behind his tweets?
One of the many cases filed against Marcos was his tax evasion case back in 2007. He was found guilty of it in a ruling by the Quezon City Trial Court in 1995.
The QC RTC Branch 105 also admitted having no record of Marcos satisfying the judgment of the court.
His father, the late Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., holds the Guinness World Record title for having “the greatest robbery of a government.” The Guinness entry stated that the country has lost $5 billion to $10 billion during FEM’s 20-year term.
Meanwhile, Bongbong’s mother Imelda Marcos was found guilty of seven counts of graft by the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division. However, she did not serve time given her age.
Albay also stated that BBM never finished his studies. Despite his claims of having obtained a degree from Oxford University, the Oxford Philippines Society clarified that he failed to do so.
“Bongbong Marcos did not finish his Degree. This was officially confirmed by Oxford University in 2015… Bongbong Marcos has been awarded a Special Diploma in Social Studies in 1978. A Special Diploma is not a degree, and neither is it comparable, superior nor equivalent to one,” the organization composed of Filipino students and alumni of Oxford said.
In the case of the Tallano Gold, Bongbong himself clarified that his family never had it.
“Balitang-balita hindi lang sa Pilipinas kundi sa lahat, meron talagang Yamashita gold. Pero sa buong buhay ko hindi pa ako nakakakita ng gold na ganyan,” he admitted. “Marami akong kilala na kung saan-saan naghuhukay. Pero ako wala pang nakitang kahit anong klaseng gold na sinasabi nila.”
Apart from lying on his Oxford degree, he was also caught fabricating the events that happened during and after Martial Law.
In a viral interview with Toni Gonzaga, Marcos Jr. said he was tired of hearing false claims against his family. This was not true since the Marcoses have won and lost several cases regarding their ill-gotten wealth and human rights violations both in the Philippines and abroad.
For instance, Marcos’ Swiss accounts in Switzerland were frozen by the Swiss Federal Supreme Court itself in 1990. The court ruled that their assets worth around $356 million be awarded to the Philippines. The court also decided seven years later that these funds were of “criminal provenance.”
In the meantime, Abay has yet to reveal his chosen presidential candidate. Earlier in October 2021, he ridiculed Vice President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo for her reason for running was because of Marcos.
