The campaign season has been ramping up since it started on February 8, 2022, with candidates and supporters initiating their numerous proclamation rallies all over the country.
One of the tandems that seemingly has the backing of celebrities with their wide-reaching platforms is the Leni Robredo-Kiko Pangilinan team.
Among the celebrities who showed support to the Leni Robredo- Kiko Pangilinan tandem during their campaign are Bituin Escalante, Sharon Cuneta, Nikki Valdez, Pinky Amador, Cherry Pie Picache, Agot Isidro, Jona, Noel Cabangon, Gary Valenciano, and Gab Valenciano.
Others also voiced their support to the politician through their respective platforms such as Marjorie Barretto, Ogie Alcasid, Iza Calzado, Angel Aquino, Ana Roces, Arlene Muhlach, Carmi Martin, Jaime Fabregas, Jim Paredes, Jolina Magdangal, John Lapus, Jugs Jugueta, K Brosas, Robi Domingo, and a lot more.
On the other hand, Team Unity’s Bongbong Marcos-Sara Duterte tandem has fewer celebrity endorsers compared to the Leni-Kiko pairing.
Among the celebrities who performed at or attended the BBM-Sara proclamation rallies are Wency Cornejo, Dulce, Robert Sena, Isay Alvarez, Randy Santiago, Toni Gonzaga, Karla Estrada, Njel De Mesa, and Ynez Veneracion.
They also have fewer celebrities showing support online such as James Blanco, who recently posted a photo of him and Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
This comparison of celebrity support between the two leading presidential candidates opens up the question, is the BBM-Sara tandem having trouble garnering support from celebrities?
Star Pop Label Head Roque Rox Santos alleged that the Marcos camp had difficulties getting celebrity endorsers despite the money offered.
Hirap na hirap daw kumuha talaga ang marcos camp ng mga artist endorsers kahit magkano pa offer, declined 😬
Buti na lang pumayag si Juliana! Good choice 👏👏👏— Roque Santos (@roxsantos) February 11, 2022
