On February 10, artist Angelina Cruz voiced her thoughts on ‘Cancel Culture.’
During the media conference for her music release, Cruz said cancel culture leaves no room for people to grow.
“I feel like Cancel Culture–when people word it with canceling people, I feel like there’s no room for educating them. And there’s no room for them to grow and learn from their past mistakes. So I feel like it’s very unhealthy.”
She then clarified that people could gently educate others instead of canceling them outright.
“I feel like the healthy way is maybe to educate them–to gently educate them and to respectfully correct them without completely canceling them because that doesn’t give them any room for them to grow.”
According to Merriam-Webster, Cancel Culture is ‘the practice or tendency of engaging in mass canceling as a way of expressing disapproval and exerting social pressure.’
As for Cruz’s musical career, she gained popularity because of her hit covers of timeless songs.
She made a cover of Can’t Help Falling In Love and a rendition of Hanggang Kailan, which had over 10 million streams on Spotify. She also released a cover of You Are the Reason with Kyle Juliano in 2021.
She also ventured into acting with DonBelle (Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano) movie, Love is Color Blind, along with Jeremiah Lisbo.
As for her latest single, Ayoko Lang dropped on digital streaming platforms under Universal Records on February 11, 2022.
