Sinister simmers in the pilot episode of the sophomore season of Agimat ng Agia, which sees Maj. Gabriel Labrador (Bong Revilla) of Task Force Kalikasan, navigating his life without his wife and son–who got killed by Alejandro Dominguez’s (Roi Vinzon) men.
He thought he had moved on from the pain of losing his loved ones. As he continue to fulfill his duties as a cop, he tried to move forward with Maya (Sanya Lopez).
But the danger remains Gabriel’s shadow, and when once it catches up with him, chaos erupts and his loved ones become the unfortunate casualties. Lopez’s departure from the show coincides with the arrival of beauty queen Rabiya Mateo’s entry to the show, to become Revilla’s new leading lady.
With a new season comes a new mission. Gabriel got tasked to look and retrieve an ancient evil amulet called the talisman dragon, whose power is known to inflict sickness and instantaneously senescence. Hope comes into view when Kim de Leon’s character, Jumong, arrives, but he is [again] reminded that the important people in his life are perpetually present.
It must be for this reason that he decides to teach Jumong to fight.
Following the death of Dominguez, Gabriel finds another wicked adversary in the form of Zeus Limjoco (Gardo Versoza), a wealthy businessman behind a huge illegal organization. The following episodes are poised to see Gabriel and Zeus trying to outsmart each other as they race to death to retrieve the amulet.
Agimat ng Agila isn’t a traditional production.
There is a level of sophistication here that you can not always see in regular daytime or primetime dramas; you’d [easily] know it has the ‘budget’, that is.
Be that as it may, the looks department isn’t solely what makes this weekly drama stand out, as it also offers curious mythology, as well as impressive acting performances. Of course, the succeeding episodes of this season ought to be better than the last one, should it aspire to keep its viewers glued.
