The year will be busier than ever for ABS-CBN International, whose collaboration with international producers will allow the Network to become a rising force in global content production.
ABS-CBN maintains its position as a reliable Filipino content provider to the key markets in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
ABS-CBN shows are exported to many countries and made significant following overseas, making the network a formidable force among Filipino producers. This year, the company ups its game as a content producer, with at least three international productions already in the working stages.
Already filming the re-imagination of the ‘90s crime classic Sa Aking Mga Kamay that was [originally] headlined by Christopher de Leon and Aga Mulach back then.
The film follows the story of the ‘Cattleya Killer’, a handsome psychopath who murders infidel married women. Its Philippine adaptation, titled The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer has already started filming in Pampanga, with Arjo Atayde playing the title role and Dan Villegas directing the project.
The project marks the second time ABS-CBN is working with the local producers of the American series, Almost Paradise, which is reportedly getting its second season, this year.
Almost Paradise was co-produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment and the American production company–Electric Entertainment.
Arjo Atayde, who won the top honor for an actor at the 2021 Asian Creatives Academy Awards, expressed his gratitude for headlining the series.
“It’s one hell of a story. It’s one hell of a character, and it’s not normally done here. This is one of the most powerful stories that they’re gonna remake. I am proud to be part of it.”
An American crime drama that tackles the lives of a Filipino family in Los Angeles is set to star by seasoned Filipina actress and Kapamilya star Sharon Cuneta.
The announcement of the upcoming international project, ‘Concepcion’ got revealed earlier this month.
Cuneta, who currently appears on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano–is playing a ‘major’ role in the series. It is also co-produced by ABS-CBN International.
Set to utilize ABS-CBN’s state-of-the-art sound stages in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan–is the upcoming prison drama, Sellblock. It will unite ABS-CBN International Production with several global production houses, including BlackOps Studios Asia, Story Arch Pictures (US), and Agog Films (Hong Kong). Ruel S. Bayani, head of ABS-CBN’s International Production and Distribution division shared that the project has been in a developmental stage since 2019.
Names of the cast members (including a big Filipino male star) are yet to be announced.
Hopping on the boys’ love craze is the upcoming BL series, Spicy Adobo and Stinky Tofu, which was among the finalists in last year’s Seascreen Project and Market in Singapore.
The series follows a young OFW in Taiwan, who turned his passion for food into a business, but was met with controversy when he fell in love with his Taiwanese business partner.
Other than these upcoming international co-productions, ABS-CBN continues to export Filipino content[s] around the world. It has amped its digital presence by making Kapamilya content more accessible through its collaborative efforts with various streaming platforms.
