It has been years since Pinoy audiences saw the phenomenal star Maine Mendoza in a TV series.
However, on January 20, rumors about Mendoza’s return to teleseryes surfaced with some believing that she would get paired with the newest Kapuso, John Lloyd Cruz.
In 2017, Mendoza starred in the GMA Telebabad teleserye Destined To Be Yours alongside the other half of the widely successful love team, ALDUB, Alden Richards.
The teleserye ran from February 27 to May 26, 2017.
Although it started with a bang with its 22.4% TV ratings, it ended on a low note with 10.8% based on Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement People in television homes.
It resulted in her decision not to pursue teleseryes anymore.
“Okay naman po yung first teleserye experience ko. Pero feeling ko, hindi talaga ako para rito, sa serye.”
From then on, she focused on hosting the longest-running noontime program, Eat Bulaga.
She also joined the cast of the sitcom Daddy’s Gurl, alongside seasoned comedy actor and host, Vic Sotto.
“Parang mas gusto ko pong i-hone yung hosting ko instead po sa acting. Pero siyempre, iba pa rin naman po kapag nag-try ka ng ibang field dito sa showbiz. Pero malay rin naman po natin, eventually.”
However, if this rumor is not a rumor, Mendoza would be returning to teleseryes after almost five years.
She has worked on multiple projects since then, such as music, sitcom, hosting, and she has already grown as an artist.
The question now is, would she be able to look past her previous not-so successful teleserye and be ready to lead a new Kapuso production on TV, again?
