The upcoming Kapuso series ‘First Lady’ is set to face the challenge of sustaining the high ratings of its prequel, ‘First Yaya’.
‘First Yaya’, starred by Gabby Concepcion and Sanya Lopez, is the Most-Watched Kapuso series for 2021. As of writing, the succeeding series that took over the time slot of ‘First Yaya’ all failed to surpass the high ratings recorded by the series.
‘First Yaya’ premiered on GMA Network’s Telebabad lineup on March 15 and recorded a 23% rating for its pilot episode.
It then concluded on July 2 with a 19.2% rating, which is lower compared to its pilot. Despite this, ‘First Yaya’ remains unbeatable in terms of ratings.
‘First Yaya’ was replaced by the Alden Richards and Jasmine Curtis-starrer series ‘The World Between Us’ which recorded a 13.9% rating for its pilot on July 5 and ended with a 14.3% rating on January 7.
When ‘The World Between Us’ took a season break in September, ‘Legal Wives’ took over the vacated time slot and started to improve its ratings. The ‘Legal Wives’ ended on November 12 with a 15.7% rating.
It was then replaced by ‘I Left My Heart In Sorsogon’ which recorded a 12% rating for its pilot episode on November 15. ‘I Left My Heart In Sorsogon’ currently holds the second spot on the rating chart and is consistent as the Most-Watched drama nationwide.
Will ‘First Lady’ manage to surpass or at least reach the high ratings of ‘First Yaya’?
‘First Lady’ will feature the sequel of ‘First Yaya’ as Yaya Melody, played by Lopez, will officially step in as the country’s first lady after marrying Concepcion’s character, President Glenn Acosta.
‘First Lady’ is expected to air this coming February on GMA Network.
