On January 11, seasoned hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon answered why Eat Bulaga is an institution when talking about noontime television shows.
During a media conference for the 42nd year of Eat Bulaga, Tito Sotto said it was because they could read the ‘pulse of the people.’
“I think it’s more or less because of the pulse. Even before noong Tito, Vic, & Joey pa lang kami, panahon pa ng ‘Okay Lang,’ we sensed–ako noon pa lang naramdaman ko na kay Vic at si Joey na we have a very good sense of the pulse of the people. Kung ano ‘yung di nila gusto, ‘yung gusto nila.”
He added that they were lucky because of the new staff they included in the show, such as writers, who could also read the public’s interest.
De Leon noted that they have been following trends of every generation throughout the show’s run.
Nagpapa-uso.”
He then recalled trends they either set or followed in the past.
“Noong nag-uumpisa kami, magkaibang kulay Converse ko. Nagkakamiseta ako, mahaba buhok namin, nagsho-shorts kami kaya ayun na-memo kami.
Vic Sotto then echoed their Eat Bulaga tagline for their 42nd year on-air.
Eat Bulaga, led by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey Reyes is halfway through its 42nd year on-air. The show marked its 42nd anniversary in the middle of 2021.
Eat Bulaga began on RPN 9 in 1979, then moved to ABS-CBN in 1989. After that, Eat Bulaga partnered with GMA Network in 1995 and has been a Kapuso ever since.
