A web of betrayal entangles a male prostitute, a wife, and a mistress, in a dangerous game of illicit affairs in this Regal Entertainment film.
By the ‘90s, Regal Entertainment (then Regal Films), was already one of the biggest film producers and distributors in the country. In 1998 alone, the film outfit produced nearly 20 full-length movies, including the Aga Mulach-starrer, Ikaw Pa Rin ang Iibigin, the Monsour del Rosario-led, Buhawi Jack, and the Ace Vergel and Maricel Soriano-starrer, Sige Subukan Mo. Just like most film studios that time, Regal Films went on a spree of producing sexy films, among which is the film, Sagad Sa Init, which starred Jomari Yllana, Sharmaine Arnaiz, and Ara Mina.
In Sagad Sa Init, Jomari Yllana plays Mon a male prostitute who has an illicit affair with Amanda, a politician’s wife, played by Sharmaine Arnaiz. Mon is in a relationship with Lisa (LJ Moreno), whose family is already expecting him to marry their daughter. He is already hesitating to continue his affair with Amanda, who has provided him a fortune, for the past two years.
The arrival of Camille (Ara Mina) to the scene complicates Mon’s situation further when he suddenly falls in love with her. However, things get even more intense when it is revealed that she is the mistress of Amanda’s husband, Rico. Throughout the film, secrets, and revelations are slowly unrolled. It isn’t hard to guess things are bound to end tragically, judging the dangerous game the main characters are leading themselves into.
The late director and screenwriter, Uro Q. de la Cruz, helmed the film. The prolific director is responsible for several remarkable films, including Virgin Forest (1985), Scorpio Nights (1985), and The Graduates (1986), for which he wrote the screenplay. Sagad sa Init served as de la Cruz’s directorial debut. He had several succeeding directorial stints, including the horror films, Bahay Ni Lola (2001), Singsing ni Lola (2002), and Shake, Rattle, Roll 2K5 (2005).
