Cornerstone Entertainment makes its bid to dominate the local idol scene by introducing its P-POP group, VXON.
It looks like the still emerging local idol industry will welcome further aspirants in 2022. After both Viva Entertainment and ShowBT Philippines launched their girl groups—Litz and KAIA, respectively—in the last quarter of the previous year, Cornerstone Entertainment greets the new year with the launching of its group. From the look of it, they seem prepared.
Comprised of idol rookies, C13, Sam, Patrick, Vince, and Franz, VXON (a stylized form of ‘Vision’) officially made its first splash into the world of PPOP on January 7, 2022. Cornerstone had [nearly] three weeks of the introductory campaign that [mostly] consisted of teasing the public with photo teasers and opening the official social media accounts of the group and its members.

Christian Brennen Saraos a.k.a. C13, the leader and main rapper of the group, has been active for at least three years; he had his solo debut in June last year. Except for Sam, who has first immersed into the world of acting, in 2019, the other three members of the group have been active since just last year. With VXON, the quintuple converged with a common cause, and this early, the potential has been so far, promising.
‘The Beast’ is an anthem for believers. The track, penned by C13 himself, with the help of Korean songwriter, Knockloud, and words from members, Sam and Franz, talks about a new revolution, which as you may guess, sees them taking their appropriate place in the bustling PPOP scene. Anybody who’s been following SB19, ALAMAT, BGYO, and other groups for that matter, must now know how hard it must have been for rookies like VXON to breakthrough in the local scene, much less in the international arena. With other similar acts simultaneously making bids to succeed in the business, it will surely take this new act more than just a mix of cute aesthetics and convincing talent to make a mark. Of course, Cornerstone has a humongous part to play, to make this bidding work out.
Incorporating elements of electronic dance, rap, and hip-hop, The Beast sounds like a proper maiden banger that should serve as a powerful introductory single for VXON. For a debut track, there is already a sense of maturity, not just in the words of the track, but also in how the music video is presented, with an enigmatic and rich vision for the group. Comparison with other groups is an inevitable scenario, given that a lot may take the track as a response to another release by another fast-rising PPOP act (and to be honest, the similarity in beats and themes, is uncanny), but that does not necessarily have to mean about a thing. The group has to release their debut studio album, anyway, and that should properly define the path the group intends to take.
