There’s no shortage in new talents and music to discover when it comes to ABS-CBN’s international-forward music label Tarsier Records, which is perfectly evidenced by these fresh singles from Aviators, daze, and Jon Guelas.
Be it rock, R&B, or pop, these tunes will surely be part of your playlist all-year round, starting with “I Think We’re On To Something Good” by Tarsier’s new artist Aviators, a rock band composed of John Roxas and Arvy Zafra.
The track, written during the strictest and hardest time of lockdown, is inspired by new wave arrangements and British melodies injected with a modern twist.
The hard-hitting alt-rock single set to drop this Friday (January 28) promises to be a sonic trailblazer for Filipino listeners. “You’ve heard local acts that rock, but you haven’t yet heard the Aviators brand of rock—shining melodies and intricate arrangements all compiled into one visceral smack to the face,” shared John and Arvy.
Meanwhile, following her sultry single “Situation” from Paradise Rising’s “Semilucent 2” EP, R&B artist daze further explores love through her latest single “Need It,” which was inspired by her conversation with a friend who went through the highs and lows of romance.
With writing influences from the likes of Maxwell and Jill Scott, daze said “Need It” aims to showcase more of her soulful side, which manifested in her note choices and the song’s arrangement.
On the other hand, Fil-Brit singer-songwriter Jon Guelas offers a hopeful new pop love song in his latest music drop “Work This Time,” a follow-up to the heartbreak anthem and his debut release “Did I Let You Go.”
Jon shared that the track is about the possibility of taking another shot at a past romance. He said, “There are relationships that come and go but some are worth fighting for just that one extra time. I wrote this song from my own experience but hopefully other people can relate and know what it’s like to try again with that one person.”
