Rising star Paolo Gumabao on Friday, January 14, expressed his gratitude to Viva for giving him work despite not being one of its talents.
He is currently part of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic.
“Well for me, actually hindi kasi ako Viva artist, Star Magic po ako. Pero I’m very grateful, and I feel very blessed na binibigyan ako ng Viva ng films ngayon,” he said during the virtual media conference for his upcoming sexy film Sisid.
In 2021, Gumabao got his first lead role after starring in Direk Joel Lamangan’s Lockdown, which Viva also made for their streaming platform Vivamax.
This time, the young artist worked with award-winning director Brillante Mendoza. He will also be working with another great filmmaker in Direk Mac Alejandre.
“I’m just really grateful sa mga films na nabibigay nila sa akin lalo na at I get to work with such talented directors, you know, award-winning directors. First si Direk Brillante, then my next film with Viva will be kay Direk Mac Alejandre.”
Meanwhile, he sees him and half-brother Marco Gumabao starring in an action-drama movie that involves brotherhood.
“Hindi namin napag-uusapan ni Marco pero ako kung magkakaroon kami ni Marco ng movie, gusto ko parang action, action-drama. Like halimbawa, like sundalo kami, tapos we’re gonna go into war.
“Parang I think that’ll be a great film. Yun lang yung nai-imagine ko kapag kasama ko si Marco sa isang film. Like sundalo kayo, tapos you show brotherhood ganoon,” Gumabao thought.
His co-star Kylie Versoza was then asked to share the similarities between the two brothers. She said both of them make the set more lively.
“Parang napansin ko na medyo similar sila in some ways. Pareho sila nang personality in a bit. Pareho silang makulit, pareho silang madaldal, ganoon silang dalawa.
“Parang pinapagaan nila yung set, maganda yung energy nilang dalawa. Parang sila yung type of actors na you want to be on set because it won’t be a boring set. Yung fun lang sila kasama and at the same time pareho silang mahusay na aktor,” she pointed.
Sisid also includes Vince Rillon and Christine Bermas. It will premiere on Vivamax, January 19.
