On January 17, Kapamilya seasoned actress Malou Crisologo highlighted the representation in the Philippine adaptation of Doctor Foster, The Broken Marriage Vow.
During the global media conference for The Broken Marriage Vow, Crisologo listed the different representations of people in their upcoming series.
“Marites, lahat na, nanay, kunsintedora, yaya. Alam mo naman ang Pinoy, may kaibigan, hindi pwedeng hindi ‘yan mangingialam. Sabi ni Angeli (Bayani) at ni Bianca (Manalo), hindi nila sasabihin, huwag kayong maniwala manood kayo.
“‘Yan ni Migs (Almendras) may kaibigang LGBTQ, lahat may ganon, represented. Kasi ganon ang Filipino eh.”
She then shared details about her character in the series, a role not found in the other adaptations of Doctor Foster.
“I play the majordoma of the bahay of the kabets, ni Sue, ni Art, at ni Rachel. The three of us are what makes The Broken Marriage Vow very Pinoy. We’re like Sapin-sapin. We add color to The Broken Marriage Vow.
“So alam mo naman ang Filipino Culture, unlike the other adaptations, or the other versions, this is what makes our version Filipino. The house help[er]s are extensions of the family and usually significant sila. I play that role, I’m the mayordoma and yaya of Lexy Lucero.”
She noted that viewers would initially have interest in the series because it’s an adaptation, but they would stay to see how the story unfolds.
“During the pilot episode siguro, you’ll watch it because this is the Pinoy version of Doctor Foster, pero as you watch it daily or weekly, wala na ‘yun. You will [be] glued to how the story will unfold, and you will see yourself in one of the characters.”
Crisologo joins the cast of The Broken Marriage Vow alongside Jodi Sta. Maria, Zanjoe Marudo, Sue Ramirez, and Zaijian Jaranilla.
The Philippine adaptation of the BBC series airs on TV on January 24 at 8:40 PM via Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live, ABS-CBN Entertainment platforms (YouTube and Facebook), and TFC.
Viewers can catch the early release of each episode on January 22 via iWantTFC and VIU, 48 hours before its TV broadcast.
