Malou Crisologo pointed on Monday, January 17, that The Broken Marriage Vow adding housemaids sets it apart from the original series and its other adaptations.
The show is another version of the hit British show Dr. Foster.
“I play the mayordoma of the bahay of the kabits ni Sue, ni Art, at ni Rachel. The three of us, kami ang what makes the Broken Marriage Vow very Pinoy,” she said during the show’s virtual media conference.
Crisologo plays Margarita “Yaya Maggie” Dimagmaliw, the head servant of the Lucero family.
Yayas or maids have always been a part of the Filipino culture, and it was highlighted in the series. Unlike other countries and other versions of Dr. Foster, there was no representation of housemaids like what the Filipino adaptation did.
She added that her character adds color to the series since these helpers were treated like family.
“We’re like sapin-sapin, we add color to the Broken Marriage Vow. So alam mo naman ang Filipino culture, unlike the other adaptations or the other versions, this what makes our version Filipino. The house helps are an extension of the family and usually significant sila.”
Being the yaya of Sue Ramirez’s character Lexy Lucero, Crisologo noted that she embraced the duties and responsibilities of a real kasambahay.
“Marites, lahat na, nanay, kunsintidora, yaya. Alam mo naman ang Pinoy, may kaibigan hindi p’wedeng hindi mangingialam.”
The series was an adaptation of its original counterpart, which adds to the hype that it must be a good show. The actress, however, stressed that there is more to just being another version of the hit series.
“During that pilot episode, siguro you’ll watch it because it is the Pinoy version of Dr. Foster. Pero as you watch it siguro daily or weekly, wala na ‘yon. You will just be glued to how the story will unfold, and you will see yourself in one of the characters,” she assured.
The Broken Marriage Vow stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Zanjoe Marudo, Sue Ramirez, and Zaijan Jaranilla. It will premiere on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Jeepney TV, A2Z Channel 11, TV5, iWantTFC, and TFC, starting January 24.
It will also be streamed on the Asian entertainment platform Viu which will air the series two days before its TV release.
