Sexy actress Kylie Versoza admitted on Friday, January 14, that she pressured herself to work hard in Brillante Mendoza’s Sisid.
“I guess not intimidation but more of I kinda pressured myself to do well. Like, ‘Okay, I’m gonna work with Direk Brillante kailangan magaling ako dito,'” she said during the film’s virtual media conference.
The former beauty queen reasoned that she would be giving her best to the role by doing so.
“But alam ko naman na kapag pine-pressure ko ang sarili ko, then mas nag-aaral ako, mas magfo-focus ako, mas kailangan kong aralin yung role. So doon ko nalang siguro nilagay yung pressure or kaba sa pagshu-shoot.”
She also had an amazing experiencing working with the award-winning director, who has a unique style of filmmaking.
“It was definitely parang such a different experience from working in different sets. Yung set namin ni Direk Brillante, kakaiba siya.
“May script kami pero hindi binibigay sa amin. The script is well-researched on pero ang gusto kasi ni Direk Brillante, mas nararamdaman ng aktor yung eksena kesa mine-memorize yung mga linya.
“Kahit yung mga maliliit na eksena, siya pa rin yung gumagawa, very hands-on pa rin si Direk Brillante sa lahat ng bagay.”
Working with Mendoza, Versoza realized how “liberating” it was as an artist.
“Hindi siya yung usual na nakakahon ka na ito yung kailangan mong dapat gawin. So in that way, parang I learned so much about my self and my craft, and so many different other ways of doing it.
“The sexy actress expressed her desire to continue making drama projects alongside experienced artists and talented directors. She also would like to star in either a romantic-comedy film or in an action flick.
“Sobrang dami ko pang gustong gawin. But I learned to love drama. Parang sana I get to do more drama projects with veteran actors and with more veteran directors also, like Direk Brillante. Pero mahilig din ako sa mga rom-com, gan’yan. But so far, mas nagugustuhan ko yung drama. Action din gusto ko ring gumawa.”
Versoza, serious about acting, then thanked Viva for the opportunities.
“Nagpapasalamat lang talaga ako sa Viva na they entrusted me with projects especially with projects like this. Sobrang grateful ako and sobrang laking pagpapasalamat ko na binibigyan ako ng oportunidad to do what I love to do and to do what I love doing. So sobrang grateful lang ako everytime they give me a project.”
Sisid also stars Christine Bermas, Paolo Gumabao, and Vince Rillon. The movie will premiere on Vivamax, January 19.
