ABS-CBN is still demonstrating a show of force on the TV rating chart, as all its primetime programs take spots in the top 20.
In terms of TV rating, based on AGB Nielsen, the Kapamilya programs are inching closer to their Kapuso counterparts, as shown on January 27, Wednesday rating. Five programs from ABS-CBN are within the Top 20 most-watched programs in the country, with the six-year-old FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano leading the pack.
The Coco Martin-starrer remains ABS-CBN’s most-watched show, as it is also currently the second most-watched primetime drama in the country. On Wednesday, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano posted a combined AGB National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) rating of 11.8%, just 0.3% of matching the rating recorded by its rival program–I Left My Heart in Sorsogon.
Similarly, The Broken Marriage Vow is threatening to beat its Kapuso counterpart, as it is steady in rating from its premiere on Monday, January 24 to Wednesday, January 27. The new Kapamilya series posted 6.5%, 7.0%, and 7.3% (NUTAM ratings), respectively. In comparison, its Kapuso counterpart, I Can See You, posted its ratings at 8.7%, 9.6%, and 8.8%, respectively in the same period.
The Charlie Dizon-led series, Viral Scandal, still has to catch up with its Kapuso rival, Mano Po Legacy, but already impressive with its 4.0% rating last January 24, even if it airs on late primetime. It’s the same case as La Vida Lena, which managed to pull off a 2.9% on the same night. The figure, though, is forecasted to go up as things heat up in the series. It is to end a very successful run next week.
Most astounding, however, is the return of TV Patrol, on the chart, after a nearly two-year absence. The 34-year Kapamilya newscast managed to rate 3.3%, despite its limited presence on free TV via A2Z. The program made a free TV comeback on its first day of the year, January 1.
It looks like the GMA Network will have to do an emergency meeting very soon, as Kapamilya programs seem to only get stronger and stronger on the rating chart. FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is technically and statistically tied with GMA Network’s number one drama, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon. Online, the clear winner remains ABS-CBN, but it looks like the GMA network has to take some measures now to secure its grip on primetime free TV.
