Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria gave her reaction to rumors claiming that she is ABS-CBN’s favorite actress due to her yearly projects.
She recently starred in the Kapamilya hit series Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin (2020-2021). She is currently set to star in the Philippine adaptation of BBC’s Doctor Foster titled, The Broken Marriage Vow.
As Jodi continuously receives lead roles, many claimed that the actress is ABS-CBN’s favorite.
During her virtual press conference to promote her upcoming drama series, she dismissed the rumors and said that having multiple projects is just a coincidence.
“Grabe naman. Nagkataon lang siguro na nagkasunod-sunod. I think we are all treated naman fairly sa station,” she said.
The actress then explained she may have received the projects because other artists changed networks and some are scared to work because of the pandemic.
“Marami rin ding tao siguro maaaring lumipat o maaaring ayaw muna magtrabaho. Natatakot dahil may pandemic. So, may mga tao naman na willing mag-work so nagkataon lang na ganun siya. Hindi dahil sa favoritism,” she said.
Sta Maria has been active in Kapamilya series since the early 2000s. In 2011, she top-billed in the comedy-drama series 100 Days to Heaven. She is also known for her role as Maya dela Rosa in the hit Kapamilya series Be Careful With My Heart (2012-2014).
She has then starred in a Kapamilya series in the following years such as Pangako Sa ‘Yo (2015-2016), Sana Dalawa ang Puso (2018), and Sino ang May Sala? (2019).
