On January 17, Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria highlighted the ‘pasabog’ scenes of the Philippine adaptation of BBC’s Doctor Foster–The Broken Marriage Vow.
During the global media conference for the series, Sta Maria teased several intense scenes that set apart the Kapamilya series from other adaptations.
“I think kasi, I believe ‘yung mga scenes na pinakita sa trailer, ito ‘yung mga iconic na mga scenes na kung saan tumatak sa Korean adaptation and also the original Dr. Foster. So parang ito ‘yung mga nakita na, pero marami pang iba, marami pang pasabog, marami pang baon si The Broken Marriage Vow na talaga namang kaabang-abang.”
Sta. Maria then differentiated her portrayals of Marissa from Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin to her Doctor Jill Illustre of The Broken Marriage Vow.
“Magkaibang-magkaibang character si Marissa at si Doctor Jill. Sa demeanor pa lang nila, sa background nila, sa desires nila, sa motivations nila sa buhay, sa needs nila, magkaibang-magkaiba na. So silang dalawa ay magkaibang tao. At hindi mo pwede iportray ang dalawang magkaibang tao ng pareho.
“For Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin, ‘yung role na ginawa ko doon siya ‘yung naging mistress. Sa The Broken Marriage Vow, ako ang legal wife.”
She also admitted feeling the pressure of working in the Philippine adaptation of the globally successful series.
“Well at first, oo. Di ba? Siyempre, napakalaking proyekto I think parang sixth adaptation na tayo. Oo nagkaroon ng pressure for me, as an actor. Pero, if you’re going to ask me now, I think natigil ‘yung pagka-feeling ng pressure na ‘yung after our taping ended. Kasi parang tapos na eh.”
She assured Filipino viewers that the Kapamilya team behind The Broken Marriage Vow put their best into the series.
“Na-canned na, ie-edit na ‘yan, lalagyan na ‘yan ng score, ng color grading, etc. So parang ayaw ko na siya isipin ng isipin kasi parang unnecessary stress lang siya. And, I believe naman na we’ve given our all, our best, our heart and soul to this series.”
The Broken Marriage Vow stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Zanjoe Marudo, Sue Ramirez, and Zaijian Jaranilla.
The series airs on January 24 at 8:40 PM via Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live, ABS-CBN Entertainment platforms (YouTube and facebook), and TFC.
Pinoy viewers can catch the early release of each episode on January 22 on iWantTFC and VIU, 48 hours before its TV broadcast.
