Multi-talented actor Alden Richards has entered the world producing and, on Monday, January 17, admitted it was tough to be a producer.
“Ngayon ko na-realize na parang iba pala yung bigat kapag ikaw mismo yung nag-produce ng sarili mong project,” he said during the virtual media conference for his upcoming digital docu-concert ForwARd which he also produced.
Compared to being just a performer, Richards had to be present for the entirety of the show’s production. He managed the concert’s requirements, assembled the production team, and handled its budgeting.
He said it was a fulfilling experience knowing that his efforts would be for a good cause.
The proceeds of the concert will be sent directly to his AR Foundation and will be used to put more children to school.
“So it’s a very liberating experience to be a producer with this project. Parang mas naging doble yung efforts ko since alam ko po na ang pupuntahan po ng lahat ng pinagbentahan and lahat ng nag-support sa ForwARd is mapupunta po sa mga scholars natin,” he told the press.
ForwARd is the narration of his real identity, Richard Reyes Faulkerson Jr., before the fame.
“With this concert, mas makikilala nila kung ano talaga ako, kung sino talaga ako, saan ako nagsimula.”
At some point in his life, the actor admitted he lost his way. But after his mother passed away, and took responsibility for his family, Richards realized his true self.
“After that, doon ko na-realize na si Richard Faulkerson Jr. ay very passionate, very selfless. He’s a dreamer. Kasi I guess yun yung nagda-drive sa akin the past years eh, it’s really dreams. Mga pangarap sa buhay, mga goals, mga checklists.”
He also has a list of what he needs to do. The goals were purposedly listed to motivate him as an entertainer.
“Yung checklist na ‘yan is very important to me because that will kumbaga parang ‘yon yung certain achievements that will make my stay here in the industry even more fruitful and purposeful.”
The actor even revealed he tends to question the purpose of some of his projects before accepting them.
“Kasi sa lahat nang ginagawa ko I guess that’s the objective eh: ‘ano ba ang purpose nito? Ano ang purpose nito for me?’ So [the] purpose is very important. I have to find that in certain projects before I accept it. Ano ba ‘to? What’s this for?” he asked.
Unfortunately, the tickets for the concert have already been sold out as early as January 15. The documentary concert will stream on January 30, 2022, at 8:00 p.m.
