The top-rated telefantasy series ‘Encantadia’ will return soon via the news series ‘Sang’gre’.
During the Kapuso New Year Countdown on December 31, GMA Network dropped hints about the upcoming Kapuso shows for 2022.
Based on the trailer, the biggest telefantasy series in the Philippines’ history is back with its new chapter, revealing ‘Sang’gre’ as one of the network’s offerings for this year. With this, it is believed that ‘Sang’gre’ is a sequel of ‘Encantadia’.
The latest ‘Encantadia’ series, which concluded in 2017, ended with a scene where the four Sang’gre sisters played by Sanya Lopez, Gabbi Garcia, Glaiza de Castro, and Mikee Quintos are carrying their child that will be the heiress of the gemstones.
GMA Network recently hinted that ‘Sang’gre’ is about a girl who possesses supernatural powers without knowing that Danaya, the Earth gem keeper and the youngest among four Sang’gre sisters, is her mother.
Diana Zubiri and Sanya Lopez have played Danaya in the 2005 and 2016 versions of the series, respectively. However, it is not confirmed whether one of them will be featured in the new series.
‘Sang’gre’ will be the fifth installment of the ‘Encantadia’ franchise. From the original TV series in 2005, its story continued to the 2005-2006 series ‘Etheria’, which had a sequel titled ‘Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas’.
It also had a crossover film with ‘Mulawin’, titled ‘Mulawin: The Movie’, the 2005 Metro Manila Film Festival entry of GMA Pictures.
In 2016, the Encantadia franchise was revived with the same title as its first installment.
GMA Network has yet to reveal the cast of ‘Sang’gre’.
