GMA Network unveiled its lineup of upcoming shows for 2022 in a 12-minute teaser video on Saturday, January 1 via YouTube.
The teaser included original television series, movies, and reality shows.
Here is the list of 16 productions to watch out for in 2022 on the GMA Network:
1. Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune.
It is based on one of the most successful film series produced in the history of Philippine cinema.
The teleserye stars Barbie Forteza, Sunshine Cruz, Maricel Laxa, Boots Anson-Roa, and David Licauco.
Set to premiere on January 3, this intriguing series revolves around the unexpected death of a business tycoon and leader of a prominent Chinese-Filipino clan. As its members scramble to stake their claim in the family’s immense fortune, who will have the right to gain control and power over the conglomerate?
2. I Can See You: AlterNate.
AlterNate is a mini-series starring Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Beauty Gonzalez.
It is part of the second season of the drama anthology I Can See You in April 2021. The upcoming series will also star Joyce Ching, Bryan Benedict, Jackie Lou Blanco, and Ricky Davao. It will air on Monday, January 10.
3. Little Princess.
Also premiering on Monday, January 10, Little Princess is an upcoming television drama romance series on GMA Network.
It is directed by L.A. Madridejos and also has Jo Berry in the title role. It tells the story of Princess, who grew up in poverty, but her life will eventually change after discovering she is an heiress of a big manufacturing company.
4. Prima Donnas Season 2.
The hit afternoon series top-billed by Jillian Ward, Althea Ablan, Elijah Alejo, and Sofia Pablo is set to return for its second season in 2022.
Katrina Halili, Wendell Ramos, Chanda Romero, James Blanco, and Aiko Melendez will still be part of the series. The second season will premiere on Monday, January 17.
5. Artikulo 247.
Rhian Ramos and Mark Herras are set to reunite in the legal drama series Artikulo 247 with Jackie Rice and Rocco Nacino.
It tells the story of a woman who fights for justice and her chance for a new life against an antagonist who, on the other hand, tries to get away with murder twice by using legal means.
It is set to premiere on February 14.
6. First Lady.
First Lady is the sequel of the hit First Yaya, which Sanya Lopez and Gabby Concepcion starred on.
It was announced that Alice Dixson would be part of the upcoming series. The GMA network has yet to disclose the other cast of the show.
7. False Positive.
Glaiza De Castro and Xian Lim will star as a love team for the first time in the upcoming TV series titled False Positive.
In an interview with Lhar Santiago of GMA News 24 Oras on Friday, November 19, De Castro revealed that her character in the False Positive series is different from her past roles.
“Hindi na kayo iiyak, hindi na kayo maiinis. Sa ngayon light lang tayo, positive lang,” she said.
8. Lolong.
The action-adventure series is inspired by the world’s largest crocodile in captivity of the same name.
It will be starred by Ruru Madrid, Arra San Agustin, and Shaira Diaz. The series will tackle environmental issues such as climate change, global warming, and the extinction of animals.
9. Widow’s Web.
Widow’s Web is the drama series starring Ashley Ortega, Pauline Mendoza, and Carmina Villaroel. It is written by the head writer of GMA Network, R.J. Nuevas.
Vaness del Moral, Adrian Alandy, Arthur Solinap, Dave Bornea, and EA Guzman are part of Widows’ Web cast. Allan Paule, Vanessa Peña, Anjay Anson, and Karenina Haniel complete the cast members.
10. Voltes V: Legacy.
The action science fiction fantasy series is based on the Japanese anime television series Chōdenji Machine Voltes V by Toei Company and Sunrise. Directed by Mark A. Reyes, it stars Miguel Tanfelix, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, Raphael Landicho and Ysabel Ortega.
The Kapuso network has already released Legacy trailers in February 2021, but there is still no specific date for its premiere date.
11. Running Man Philippines.
The hit game reality show from South Korea is about to have a “Filipino twist.”
It will follow the same format, which features hosts and celebrity guests engaging in performances and challenges in different settings to win a race.
Running Man premiered in South Korea on July 11, 2010. The cast stars Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, Haha, Lee Kwang Soo, Song Ji Hyo, Yang Se Chan, and Jeon So Min.
12. My Husband-in-Law.
The hit 2020 Thai television series is created by Thong Entertainment and directed by Ampaiporn Jitmaingong.
It starred Prin Suparat and Nittha Jirayungyurn. It tells the story of Muey, a young girl who loves the son of her mother’s friend, Thien. Although Muey loves him, Thien never seems to love Muey.
13. Prophecy of Love.
It is a 2020 Thai drama about a woman who can see the future by touching roses. It starred James Jirayu Tangsrisuk and Ice Preechaya Pongthananikorn.
14. Now We Are Breaking Up.
Starring Song Hye-kyo and Jang Ki-yong, Now We Are Breaking Up is an ongoing South Korean romantic drama that premiered on November 12, 2021.
It is centered around the classic romance trope of fateful love.
15. Yumi’s Cells.
Led by Kim Go-eun, Ahn Bo-hyun, and GOT7’s Jinyoung, Yumi’s Cells is a 2021 South Korean television series based on eponymous Webtoon.
It is a cell-based psychological romance that unravels the daily life of an ordinary office worker Yumi through the eyes of the cells in her head. The series premiered on tvN on September 17, 2021.
16. Penthouse Season 3.
It is a South Korean television series that starred Lee Ji-ah, Kim So-yeon, Eugene, Um Ki-joon, Yoon Jong-hoon, and Park Eun-seok.
The series tells about a woman who attempted to enter high society by becoming the “queen” of a luxury 100th floor penthouse apartment in Gangnam. It premiered on SBS TV on October 26, 2020.
