In a media conference held on January 14, Director Gina Alajar shared no real-life prima donnas among Prima Donnas’ lead stars.
In the few years they have been together, the director was impressed with how their parents raised the four Kapuso stars, Jillian Ward, Sofia Pablo, Althea Ablan, and Elijah Alejo.
According to her, the Kapuso stars are well-mannered, professional, and do not have any ‘prima donna’ attitude.
“Definitely, wala. Wala talaga, wala. They’re well-mannered children. They’re well-raised by their parents. Magagalang silang lahat, that’s one thing for sure. Lagi iyan in the morning kapag nagkikita-kita sa dining hall. Kapag dumarating na ‘ko, everybody stands up kung nandoon lang sila at kung wala naman silang ibang ginagawa,” said Alajar.
She added, “Everyone stands up and greets, ‘Good morning po,’ ‘Kain na po kayo.’ And everybody says ‘Hello,’ ‘Good Morning,’ lahat ganyan. Sa mga boys, of course, gentleman lahat iyan. Sa murang isipan nila, sa kabataan nila, very gentleman iyan. Kapag may dala-dala, not only with me, but other girls, kahit lalaki pa, tutulong iyan. Tutulong talaga sila.”
Alajar believes that the teen stars of Prima Donnas are future Superstars of the Kapuso network, so she hopes that the GMA network will support them and that their talents will not go unnoticed.
“You know, I’m betting for them, and I hope that you know, the network will notice them. The network will notice their work, and I’m sure naman, the network will support them all the way.
“Sana mabigyan sila ng mas magaganda pang roles, mas challenging roles in the sense na hindi sila ma-identify lang sa iisang klase.
“They should be tested in different kinds of genres,” said the director.
However, Direk Gina believes that these Kapuso stars are still young, and there are still many things to improve and challenges to go through.
“Marami pa silang kakainin, marami pa silang matutunan sa buhay. At alam natin na marami pa rin silang adjustment sa buhay na ito. Nandito pa lang sila sa teenage years. Pag dumating sila on their 20s, they’re going to adjust pa rin. Kapag 25 sila, mag-a-adjust pa rin. Sa 30, mag-a-adjust pa rin.
“Change is constant. Palaging nandiyan iyan. Ang mahirap lang siguro diyan, kahit tumatanda na sila ay hindi pa rin sila nagbabago sa attitude nila or the way they think, doon magkakaroon tayo ng problema.
“But as far yung change in a positive way and nagma-mature sila and nag-iiba ang perspective nila at nag-iiba ang paniniwala nila, then it’s good. Yung perception nag-iiba, it’s very good, it’s very positive.”
So far, the director is still unsure if Prima Donnas will have season 3. According to her, it would depend on how the viewers will support their season 2. However, she prays that the Lord would bless them even more.
Alajar stated, “We wouldn’t know yet, hindi natin alam kung ano ang magiging response ng mga tao sa season 2.
“We’re just praying, and we lift it up to the Lord na kung ano yung binigay niyang blessing sa amin sa season 1, would be the same blessing or much more that we could have ever asked for and we could imagine.
“Sana mas higitan pa ni Lord ang blessing at grace na binigay niya sa amin. And by God’s grace also, nasa sa kanya na rin ang desisyon para sabihin sa management na, ‘Do a season 3!’ Then, what can we do? Ganun talaga ‘yon,” she added.
Fresh episodes of Prima Donnas Book 2 begins on January 24 on GMA Afternoon Prime.
