Leyte’s 4th District representative Lucy Torres earned the ire of netizens for using the name of God in expressing her support for the presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos.
On January 15, Marcos Jr. guested in the radio program of Torres and Anakalusugan Representative Mike Defensor, ‘Point Of Order’ that airs on SMNI News Channel’.
During the guesting, Torres commended Marcos Jr. for his platforms for the country if he will win the highest government position.
Torres believes that winning the presidential election is a matter of destiny.
If Marcos Jr. will win the position, Torres has nothing but well-wishes for him.
“The matter of presidency, it’s really an act of destiny. It’s one of those things that only God knows and only time will tell. And I would just like to say that if it’s in God’s plan for BBM to be our next president, may you be one of the best this country has ever had. I wish you well. I wish you every success.”
Torres also believes that Marcos Jr. receives many criticisms because he is also the most popular candidate.
“And like I said in the past, Senator BBM, you being the most vilified, perhaps, also because you are the most popular, for every curse a blessing.”
Actress Dionne Monsanto labeled Torres as the ‘Lucy we don’t need’.

@godfatherJK5 believes that Torres backs Marcos Jr. for personal gain and should stop using ‘destiny’ to support the aspirant.
Puro kayo "DESTINY".
Ang sabihin niyo mahal niyo ang mga puwesto niyo kesa sa sariling bansa. Nakinabang, nakikinabang o makikinabang kayo kay Jr kaya pilit niyong kinakampanya. BASURA! #NoToMarcosDuterte2022 pic.twitter.com/94rkLhcR9g— NasKT (@godfatherJK5) January 16, 2022

Netizens also pointed out how ironic it is for Torres to be a religious person but, supports the son of a dictator.

Dear Lucy, wag mo madikit-dikit ang BBM sa God’s plan. Two out of the 10 commandments na ang nalabag mo, teh. https://t.co/XbZortoFVG

Marcos Jr. is currently facing disqualification charges for unfiled tax returns. Petitioners believe that his candidacy contains “multiple false material representations”.
COMELEC has yet to release its decision regarding these petitions.
