Kapuso singer-actress Rita Daniela shared that she will feel blessed and honored if she is hailed as the ‘Best Actress’ for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
During the red carpet premiere of the official MMFF entry ‘Huling Ulan Sa Tag-araw’ on December 13, Daniela said that she is already grateful that their movie was shortlisted as one of the official entries for this year’s film festival.
“Sa totoo lang, alam n’yo po no’ng nalaman namin na pasok po ‘yung pelikula namin sa MMFF, hindi na po kami naghahangad ng kung ano pa kasi the fact na nakasama kami sa Magic 8 na tinatawag, sobrang grabe na ‘yung blessing na ‘yon, as in,” she said.
They waited for two years for their movie release so, Daniela is overflowing with gratitude and now entrusts everything to God’s plans.
“Sinasabi namin, it’s been two years, kailan pa po ba namin mapapanood ‘yung pelikula tapos biglang pasok siya sa MMFF. Pero sa ‘kin naman po kung will din ni Lord talaga, if He thinks that my character is ready to receive an award like that then thank you so much Lord.
“Then kung hindi naman din po, wala naman pong issue kasi po napakagaling, napakahusay po lahat ng mga aktor po na kasama sa MMFF and sobrang special po nito talaga.”
‘Huling Ulan Sa Tag-araw’ is a romantic film directed by Louie Ignacio. Daniela will star with true-to-life partner Ken Chan, Lotlot de Leon, and Richard Yap.
In the same event, Daniela also revealed that Chan is one of the main reasons she stayed in showbiz.
She said that Chan seemed to answer her prayers when she almost left showbiz.
“Tapos nagdasal ako ng, ‘Lord, bigyan n’yo po ako ng tamang tao around me.’ And then kanina po iniisip ko habang pinapanood ko po ‘yung pelikula, paano kung hindi si Ken ‘yun?
“And I’m just really, really grateful kasi I’m experiencing this moment with him kasi kung hindi siya, kaya ko talagang sabihin kay Lord na, kung hindi siya, huwag na.”
With this, she expressed her gratitude to Chan, who always brings out the best in her.
Daniela believes that she would not portray her character well in the movie if Chan were not her partner.
“I just wanna honor Ken, my partner, not just on-screen but also in life. I don’t think I’d be able to portray something like that and I’d be able to act that way kung hindi siya yung kasama ko.”
Daniela and Chan first worked together in the 2018 GMA afternoon series ‘My Special Tatay’ where fans noticed their chemistry. They eventually became a hit love team of the Kapuso and eventually translated their on-screen tandem into a real-life relationship.
‘Huling Ulan Sa Tag-araw’ will premiere on December 25 in cinemas nationwide on Christmas day.
