Viva star Rhen Escaño on Monday, December 6, have realized that love really knows no standard.
Escaño, during the virtual media conference of the upcoming Girl’s Love (GL) series Lulu, admitted she used to dream of having a partner that meets her expectations.
“Ako po kasi noong bata palang ako high school palang, lagi po akong may standards when it comes to love.
But in reality, expectations are defied, and not everything goes according to plan.
So Escaño said she is not rejecting the possibility of falling in love with another woman as she realized that standards are meant to be broken in love.
“Tignan po natin. Hindi ko po alam. Yun po kasi ako eh. Kung may standards man ako or meron man akong bagay-bagay sa isip na kailangan ganito ganiyan, pero once na naramdaman ko na in love ako, or nagkakagusto ako sa isang tao, lahat talaga nang ‘yon nawawala.”
The young artist also did not think ill of lesbians.
Escaño even added that lesbians are far more loyal than men.
The young talent, however, clarified that men are not overall playboys. But in terms of love, she pointed that lesbians are very honest with their feelings.
Will she continue starring in GL genres?
Lulu is the second project of Escaño being partnered with another woman. If being typecast in the genre, she stressed that there was nothing wrong with playing characters that are “unconventional.”
“I think kung ma-typecast man, wala namang masama sa pag-play ng role ng isang lesbian. Para kasi sa akin nakakatuwa i-portray ang mga ganitong characters dahil maipapakita mo na totoong tao sila, totoong nagmamahal sila, and love is genderless.”
Escaño was also hoping to have a second season of the GL series as she has accepted her role wholeheartedly.
“I guess walang takot. Kung masundan ‘to, why not?
So yeah, excited po ako kung meron mang kasunod.”
Lulu also stars real-life lesbian Rita Martinez alongside Escaño. The series is directed by Sigrid Bernardo and will be coming in Vivamax, January 7, 2022.
