SB19 was launched on October 18, 2018, by ShowBT Philippines, a Korean group ShowBT. However, their ascent to popularity was decided with their single Go Up back on July 19, 2019, which was supposedly a breaking point for the group and go their separate ways if the song did not perform well.
The boyband also won a number of awards locally but they continued their rise when on November 20, 2019, they became the first Filipino act featured in Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart as well as Billboard’s Social 50.
That same year, SB19 became frequent on Billboard’s charts as they were again featured in LyricFind Global and had their first chart hit through Alab and had Tilahula topped the same chart the following week.
The group was featured in the annual Billboard Year-End Social 50, becoming the first Southeast Asian act to reach the top 10 of the magazine’s annual chart.
On April 2021, SB19 marked the first Filipino appearance in the Billboard Music Awards after becoming one of the Top Social Artists alongside BTS, Blackpink, Ariana Grande, and Seventeen.
Their success did not end when they were nominated at the MTV Europe Music Awards in the Best Southeast Asian Act category.
Their hot streak continues with their latest achievement, and SB19 would surely dominate the music scene for years to come.
