The first double-eviction of the season gave Pinoy Big Brother its most-watched episode yet on YouTube, breaking the record previously set by Chie Filomeno’s eviction two weeks earlier.
As the celebrity edition of this new PBB season races towards its finale, events inside the house are understandably becoming more intense. Viewers are unsurprisingly glued on their TV screens and their gadgets, as Kuya finally unleashes his long tested-and-proven gimmicks to make the house more interesting. The secret recipe for how this season might be the most controversial, and thus, most interesting yet, lies on the remaining housemates and the mix of diversity and similarity they possess.
After Chie Filomeno’s eviction which saw the reality show’s online viewership surge to nearly 120,000 on Kapamilya Online Live, attention for PBB picked up again with the controversies and hot topics about the house that inevitably stirred netizens across social media. There’s this call for TJ Valderrama to get force-evicted over sexual harassment issues that involve his fellow housemate, Shanaia Gomez. Brenda Mage also caught the ire of the netizens over backstabbing allegations. KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad’s mental health concerns also became a major point of conversation, and that one heated confrontation between Karen Bordador and TJ, made viewers root for the former.
The week ultimately ended with Bordador and Valderrama getting expelled from the Big Brother house. This double-eviction marked the first time a nominated housemate received a negative percentage of the votes. The people’s negative impression of Valderrama over his harassment allegations [obviously] harmed his chance to continue his PBB stint, as his -3.05% final percentage of the votes, is a clear suggestion of the viewers’ disgust toward his actions. Although it must be noted that even ‘Kuya’ himself, gave TJ a positive edit, that many netizens suspect to be a means to salvage his rotting reputation. Well, guess what Big Brother—your efforts didn’t work this time.

That said, the past week had a heaping spoonful of intensity, and controversy gave the show a flattering favor, as more viewers tuned in the show, on Sunday, November 5, for its first double-eviction event. On Kapamilya Online Live, concurrent viewers soared past 120,000 and peaked at more than 130,000.
That’s 10,000 more than the figure set by Chie Filomeno’s eviction.
It’s pretty clear Big Brother’s rushing to get this edition to a satisfying conclusion. This double eviction won’t be the last, as another one will become next week. If that’s the same case for the remaining evictions then it won’t take much longer before we get introduced to this edition’s celebrity Big Four.
