Actor-chef Marvin Agustin may have overhyped his cochinillo and is now being criticized after it did not meet the expectation of some of his customers, Monday, December 27.
Agustin created his own version of the recipe, which originated from Roman and Chinese cuisine, and was already sold out as early as December 20. But when his customers received it, including Ogie Diaz and Darryl Yap, it was far from what was advertised.
Earlier on December 23, Diaz took to Facebook to express his disappointment with the lechon he ordered.
It was then followed by another post on December 26 where Diaz was looking for someone who can make a “legit” conchinillo.
A Netizen suggested to Diaz that he should try Agustin’s conchinillo but the latter sarcastically replied, “Natikman ko na yung cochinillo ni Marvin, baka lang hindi kami nagkasundo nung biik sa lasa. Hahaha! Kaya hanap uli.”
The talent manager then tagged Yap and asked for his experience with Agustin’s conchinillo, and the director admitted he did not like its taste and texture.
“Hindi po ako nasarapan Mama Ogs, sobra sa mantika, kahit po ang sauce. nag-feedback naman po ako, baka nataon lang din sa akin— charot.”
Personalities then suggested other cochinillo sellers who can satisfy Diaz.
Jules Guiang and Christian Albert Gaza suggested that Diaz try their respective cochinillo makers.
While personalities offer Diaz other restaurants that could meet his expectations, some Agustin’s customers have also expressed their disappointment with his recipe.
A netizen named Adora Zaragoza shared her experience and did not recommend the actor’s cochinillo.
“I am very sorry to each one of you. Maling-mali na nagpa-overwhelm kami sa mga di inaasahang problema, nagkulang kami sa aming serbisyo, at hindi namin agad-agad na natugunan ang inyong katanungan.
“At masakit man yung mga nababasa ko, tinatanggap ko lahat kasi talagang nagkamali ako.
“Sana mabigyan ninyo ako ng pagkakataon maipakita na hindi ko pagkatao ang magbigay ng problema o hirap sa kahit na kanino,” apologized Agustin.
The actor-chef explained that he had problems with his kitchen equipment which led to the disappointing cochinillos being sent out to the frustrated customers.
“I had a series of unfortunate incidents from our kitchen equipment breaking down, a glitch in our ordering system, and last-minute cancellations of couriers due to several unforeseen reasons.”
However, he did not justify his reason for the mishaps. Agustin assured that he would be contacting the clients who had an awful experience to address them properly.
“To those who haven’t received a message from us, I am just gathering all the information so we can address your concerns properly.
“Bawa’t isa sa inyo mahalaga sa akin at sa aming trabaho.
“I promise each one of you, we will do better.”
In the meantime, the comment section in the video of the overhyped cochinillo on Agustin’s Instagram has now been turned off.
