On December 9, Kapamilya artist Maris Racal described The Kangks Show as ‘in your face’ in telling the truth about sex.
During the media conference for The Kangks Show, Racal recalled what she thought upon seeing the script for the digital series.
“Ang dami kong mura, as in, parang seryoso ba ‘tong script na ‘to. Parang ganto talaga ‘yung mangyayari kasi every episode talaga sobrang honest, sobrang in your face ‘yung pagkakalagay ng truth about sex, lahat ng mga problems ng mga tao when it comes to sex.”
She then compared the series to Director Antoinette Jadaone’s podcast with fellow director JP Habac, Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast.
“Sobrang nakakatawa as in ibang level. As in maano mo talaga kapag nakikinig ka ng podcast ni Direk Tonette, parang maano ‘yung, ah ganon talaga ‘yung humor, ganon ‘yung humor ng script,’yung humor ng the Kangks Show. As in kanalan, bardagulan.”
Racal also shared how the series changed his views about the romanticization of sex.
“Na-realize pala ng view ko sa sex at sa love. Kasi para sa akin may mga taong ‘yung sex for love lang talaga. Gusto lang nila for love making. May mga tao rin na gusto lang for fun ganyan. So, may ibang tao kayang iseparate ‘yung love at tsaka ‘yung sex, at tsaka may mga taong hindi kaya.
“So para sa akin, itong script na ‘to sobrang totoo niya. ‘Yun na din ‘yung view ko matagal na. So thankful ako na walang–hindi naro-romanticized ‘yung iba’t ibang mga bagay sa series na ‘to.”
The Kangks Show directed by Antoinette Jadaone stars Angelica Panganiban, Maris Racal, Kit Thompson, JC de Vera, and Angeli Bayani and it streams on WeTV on December 17.
