ABS-CBN is building its new roster of leading ladies who will headline the Network’s ‘biggest’ projects in the next few years.
The Kapamilya network’s continuous expansion to online and digital platforms mark the rise of up-and-coming female stars or leading ladies, who are all poised to dominate the local entertainment scene.
Since the pandemic and the media giant’s shift to streaming, many promising Kapamilya newbies have emerged and captured the spotlight and support of fans. These new names are poised to sustain their ascent as ABS-CBN further invests in them by letting them star roles in upcoming projects.
The following are 10 female stars who undoubtedly hold the greatest chances of seeing their career soar to the heights achieved by ABS-CBN’s homegrown superstars ahead of them.
Andrea Brillantes.
Brillantes has long proven her mettle in tackling dramatic roles.
Following her first starring role via the pre-primetime series, Annaliza, she quickly became one of the Network’s most promising teenage stars.
Her career development, in the last few years, however, has made her move to just an inch short of achieving superstardom. Her upcoming projects–the iQiYi series Saying Goodbye and a new musical from Dreamscape Entertainment are most likely to expedite her bid to become one of her generation’s biggest stars.
Belle Mariano.
Before she played a female lead role in the inarguably ‘biggest’ Web series of the year, Mariano’s career highlight was when she played the young Gabby Salazar in Four Sisters Before the Wedding, the prequel to Four Sisters and a Wedding film.
She moved at a pace when rarely seen in her contemporaries–she will take an even more astronomical turn as she headlines her first starring role in a Star Cinema film. Apart from the box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina directing the film, it already speaks volumes of the attention and nurturing her home network has given her to be the next fast-rising Kapamilya star.
Charlie Dizon.
Charlie Dizon is one of the most talented actresses of this generation, and it looks like she’s on the right path to superstardom. The MMFF 2021 best actress has been building up her acting resume with electrifying performances.
This year alone, she has starred in an iWantTFC Web series, My Sunset Girl, her own Maalala Mo Kaya episode, which she starred along with Kapamilya drama actor Joshua Garcia.
Dizon reunites with Garcia via the now airing TV series Viral Scandal. It has been earning positive reviews for the ensemble’s stellar performances, particularly on Dizon. Her portrayal of a rape victim is compelling. Her character is trying to escape from and fight society’s moral persecution.
Criza Taa.
You can see how far Taa has moved in her career if you realize she just entered the show business two years ago. The Pinoy Big Brother Otso teen housemate has navigated her showbiz journey impressively, and that’s all thanks to her brimming potentials.
After making her acting debut via the 2019 phenomenal daytime series, Kadenang Ginto, Taa landed more roles in various projects.
This year, she took on a lead role in the highly-successful iWantTFC series, He’s Into Her. She’s all set to reprise the role next year when the series comes back for a sophomore season.
Daniela Stranner.
Given that she has one of the most beautiful young faces that the Rise Artists Studio is pushing into the limelight, it’s not difficult to fall for Stranner.
It is also easy to believe that she will become one of ABS-CBN’s new leading ladies because of her very strong artistic potentials.
Stranner’s surge to fame was cut short early last year when Make It With You got canceled. She played a supporting role in that series. With Love At first Stream, which opens in December, she will resume her bid to stardom, which she will no doubt achieve with subsequent projects.
Francine Diaz.
She started acting in 2015. Diaz has never been closer to superstardom than this year, when she headlined, along some of ABS-CBN’s most promising young stars, the inspirational TV series, Huwag Kang Mangamba.
Her career undoubtedly got bolstered by her sensational role in the phenomenal daytime series Kadenang Ginto. Her ascend to popularity and bankability continues as her home Network gives her more challenging projects.
Gigi de Lana.
De Lana’s path to stardom is pretty well in effect, having thrust into public attention via her viral musical covers.
The Tawag Ng Tanghalan alumna’s career is picking up further steam as attention from her home Network shifts toward her this year. Dear Heart, her upcoming Web series, which she stars along with one of the hottest and most in-demand leading men of her Network, Gerald Anderson, can be a ‘definitive turn’ in her fast-rising career.
Jane de Leon.
It won’t be surprising if De Leon lands more ambitious roles in the future after she gets to breathe into the title role in ABS-CBN’s TV adaptation of the Mars Ravelo superheroine–Darna.
De Leon first made it to the limelight in 2018, after appearing on the top-rated primetime romantic drama Halik.
Since her selection as the new Darna, her surge to stardom has made her more visible to Kapamilya viewers.
Earlier this year, she made an impressive guest appearance through her action and dramatic skills on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. It is [actually] a way to condition her for her titanic role in Darna.
Kaori Oinuma.
A rare case of beauty and talent in one body, Oinuma is on the cusp of a breakthrough, as she tackles her biggest roles yet, both in film and on television. In December, she will headline her first starring film—the MMFF entry, Love at First Stream.
Next year, she will play one of the major characters in the youth-oriented Star Creatives series. People may see her as blessed with projects. These are most likely the right ones to catapult her to further fame.
Karina Bautista.
She’s one of her PBB fastest-rising alumni. Bautista is very well-positioned to become one of her home Network’s most important young stars. She can hold court among ABS-CBN’s fast-rising stars, with her mix of talent and beauty. With her challenging role on the primetime series, Viral Scandal, and subsequent casting in upcoming Kapamilya projects, Bautista is no question one of the most promising stars in this list.
In the following months or years, these names won’t get to surprise their rise to superstardom, as that seems to be well-written in the developing acting careers.
Regardless of where these stars are currently standing in their bid to succeed in their respective showbiz journeys, and while most of them may still have to work their butts off in their way up the proverbial ladder–there is no doubt that they are some of the local entertainment’s scene’s biggest prospects.
