During the media conference for The Kangks Show on December 9, director Antoinette Jadaone cited the benefits of having her sex advice series on a streaming platform such as WeTV, she’s super happy because it won’t get called out by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
“Tapos ang okay sa WeTV the app is free and it means a lot to me, especially na because WeTV is free, more people can watch it.
She also recalled how she pitched the story to the streaming platform.
Baka maging the Toot show. Noong inapprove nila ‘yun. Ayon, tuloy-tuloy na, very collaborative ‘yung WeTV.”
She also expressed her excitement to work again with actress Angelica Panganiban.
“Pero isa sa mga super happy ako, kasi first ko ulit makatrabaho si Angge [Angelica Panganiban], after Tadhana. Actually, dahil kaibigan ko siya, ngayon ko lang nga na-realize na ngayon ko lang siya ulit nakatrabaho, kasi ‘yung Tadhana 2014 pa ‘yun at tsaka ‘yung Beauty in a Bottle. So super happy ako na naka-work ko siya na matanda na kami, na hindi love story.”
Jadaone then explained the concept of their series, relating it to Maalaala Mo Kaya, Margie Holmes, and Joe D’ Mango.
“Siguro, parang in simple terms The Kangks Show is Maalaala Mo Kaya meets Margie Holmes, meets Joe D’ Mango. It’s a show within a show. So the Kangks Show is the sex advice show hosted by Doc. Kara Teo played by Angelica Panganiban.
In 2016, MTRCB invited Till I Met You showrunners and executives, including Jadaone, to their office because of daring love scenes in the series.
The Kangks Show stars Angelica Panganiban, Maris Racal, Kit Thompson, JC de Vera, and Angeli Bayani and it streams on WeTV on December 17.
