On December 18, Primetime actor Dingdong Dantes revealed one of his guiding principles, noting that he pushes himself as an actor.
During the media conference for his Metro Manila Film Festival movie, A Hard Day, Dantes said he doesn’t accept projects based on their potential to give awards.
“Hindi naman din kasi ‘yun ‘yung main goal ko sa pagpili ng mga projects. ‘Yung isang guiding principle ko parati sa paggawa ng pelikula or TV shows man ‘yan ay gusto ko parating kumbaga napu-push ko ‘yung sarili ko sa mga bagay na hindi ko pa nagagawa.”
He added that he chooses projects that push him to more as an artist.
“Kung titignan ko rin siguro ‘yung ano ko, ‘yung filmography medyo pahirap siya ng pahirap. Kumbaga hindi ako bumabalik doon sa ano ‘yung nagawa ko dati, kung saan komportable ako. So I always want to push myself to the limits.
“I always want to do edge work and push it to the point na I’m no longer comfortable. By doing that I continously challenge myself and I reach certain areas na kumbaga hindi ko pa siya nararating dati.”
He then described the premise of his upcoming crime action film as a corrupt cop versus a more corrupt cop.
“Hindi siya madali dahil ‘yung character ay isang pulis na in a way, hindi siya perpektong pulis. Na-involve siya kahit papaano sa isang kurapsyon. And, he is caught in the middle of this controversy and issue sa kalagitnaan noong burol ng nanay niya.
“Tapos noong papunta siya doon eh, may nasagasaan siya. So patong-patong ‘yung problema niya. And hindi niya alam, mayroon pa palang mas corrupt sa kanya. So it’s gonna be a quest for my character to run after that other character who apparently is more corrupt. “
The action-packed film stars two-time MMFF Best Actor Dingdong Dantes and 2021 Venice Film Festival’s Volpi Cup Best Actor John Arcilla and is under the direction of Lawrence Fajardo.
‘A Hard Day’ is a Filipino adaptation of a Korean movie of the same title. It serves as Viva Films’ official entry for Metro Manila Film Festival and premieres on December 25.
