In an interview on December 10, broadcast journalist and news anchor Ces Drilon advised parents of LGBTQIA+ kids to take some time to listen to their children.
As a parent of an LGBTQIA+ member, that was one of her mistakes before.
“We are all human beings. I think your love for them, for your kids, will tell you how you will react.
“Just listen, I think that’s important. Maybe ‘yun nga ‘yung isang failure ko e. Kasi minsan as a parent parang hindi ka nakikinig sa kanila. So please find time to listen and to hear them out. You might have an idea in your head about who they are but maybe mali,” said Drilon.
In September 2018, an article on The Philippine STAR received positive reactions as it featured the touching story of Ces Drilon’s relationship with her bisexual and cross-dresser son, Andre.
The journalist received praises and compliments for her open-mindedness and reaction to her son’s sexual orientation.
Now that Drilon has entered acting and been included in a BL series, Love Team: Beyond Boys’ Lockdown, she sees the importance of this kind of genre.
According to her, it is a great help to make everyone, especially the elderly, be aware of the actual situation of LGBTQIA+ members. It will be a way to show these people’s stories to the world.
“Very very important because this genre helps people like us, the older ones, be educated about the LGBTQ+. We need their stories to be told from their point of view. I think it’s about time to have content like this, to tell their stories, their love stories. We want these stories to be told.
“I think this genre hitted big during the pandemic. Nakakatuwa diba? Kasi kikiligin ka talaga you wouldn’t think,” she added.
In her Instagram post, the broadcaster expressed her excitement for the series.
She captioned, “Now it can be told! So kilig to be part of Season 2 of #boyslockdown Love Team Beyond Boys’ Lockdown! Talking about experimentation and stepping out of one’s comfort zone – eto na talaga! The season teaser premiered last night.”
In the trailer released by Ticket2Me, Drilon will play the mother of one of the stars in the boys’ love (BL) series Love Team: Beyond Boys’ Lockdown.
