With the spread of COVID-19 in our country also came the spread of fear and despair. But there are those who make an effort to promote courage and optimism to wipe away the feelings of gloom and doom in the hearts of the despondent people that they come across; injecting positivity as they cheer those struggling to cope with the challenges of the pandemic by giving an inspiring message of love and hope.
An inspiring message of love and hope is what we need to hear often, especially now that most of us are finding it hard to have a merry celebration of the yuletide season because of the pandemic. One song offers such a message: “Sa Pagsapit ng Pasko” is a revamped version of Ivory Music & Video’s 2014 tribute to those affected by the Typhoon Yolanda calamity. This Christmas song inspires its listeners to spread love and hope to others amid these difficult times.
“Initially, the project was a major challenge since some of the artists are based in the provinces and abroad as well, and the recording process might be difficult with the enforced lockdown. With the help of technology and the supervision of producer Teddy Katigbak, the song was completed and released on Sept. 24, 2021,” says Jon Daza of Ivory Music & Video.
The company also manifested tidings of love and hope through an online Christmas concert it streamed last November 27, 2021 via its Facebook and YouTube Channels for the benefit of Hospicio de San Jose, a haven of hope for abandoned, neglected and surrendered persons. The community, administered by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, battled with COVID-19 just this August. Ivory brought together several of its artists from the track and also its new members to perform Christmas songs and encourage the audience to extend a helping hand to the people of Hospicio de San Jose.
Some of the Ivory artists who performed on the online Christmas concert were CJ Navato, Karl Zarate, Rea Katigbak, Meg Zurbito, Eevee, Sandiwa, ConStruck Music, Stereotype, Nonoy Peña, Geca Morales, and Kwelyo. Giving their first performances as Ivory artists were the winners of the Your Song of Excellence Digital Singing Competition: Edel Quibol, Renz Robosa, and Monzter Jam.
Geca Morales shares, “I’m happy to be part of this Christmas Concert not only because I get to do what I love doing which is singing and performing, but also because I was able to use my God-given talent to help others as well.”
Ivory Music & Video hopes its music is able to inspire people to do great things. By revisiting the 2014 song, “Sa Pagsapit ng Pasko,” and giving it a fresh spin, the company recognizes that music in itself has the power to uplift and inspire others.
