President and CEO of TV5 and Cignal TV, Robert P. Galang, shared on Friday, November 12, that the Kapatid Network is already preparing more original content for next year.
In an interview, he said, “We expect more original content by TV5. Yung entertainment content is provided by Cignal. Tapos ang sports and news provided by TV5. So napansin niyo na rin na we already have three news programs in TV5 now. Merong morning, primetime, and late evening.”
Galang also noted that TV5 will bring more public affairs programs due to the upcoming national elections in 2022.
“Tapos by next year, kasi eleksyon na eh, so we will have more public affairs programs and a number of them will be election-related.”
Meanwhile, Cignal will be providing TV5 with its content when it comes to entertainment. The Network will also continue its collaboration with ABS-CBN, Viva, and its latest partner, CS Studios.
“On entertainment, we will produce more shows. Kasi we already expanded our DTT network. So now we are more confident in bringing out more shows because our coverage now is a lot wider, we can reach more people.”
TV5 also improved its reach, now becoming a digital terrestrial television (DTT), meaning it has now become nationwide.
“Naumpisahan namin ang DTT network rollout ng TV5 last year, late 2020. But we already completed our primary network so ano tayo Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao na. Ngayon ‘pag gumawa tayo ng mga bagong shows eh alam namin na mas marami nang makakapanuod.”
Galang was also confident in bringing more original content for TV5, noting it thrived during the pandemic.
“Nitong pandemic na ito, ang thinking talaga niya eh hindi magpapatalo sa pandemic. So ang TV5, was actually more active noong 2020 compared to the past years.
“So noong pandemic, yun din naman ang nakita namin na pagbangon ng TV5 kasi we pivoted back to entertainment, gumanda ang ratings, tumataas ang ratings, sumusunod na rin ang revenue.
“So we were very thankful and very blessed, and continue to be very blessed. Ngayon na nasa pandemic pa rin nakita niyo na tuloy-tuloy pa rin ng paggawa ng mga bagong programa ng TV5,” he expressed.
The success of the Network amid the Covid-19 pandemic was thanks to its chairman, Manuel “MVP” Pangilinan.
“Well, I guess I would give credit to MVP, yung spirit ng MVP group din led by our chairman,” pointed Galang.
