Salut then wondered if Paulate could still look at his Kapamilya friends in the eyes after this campaign.
Kadiri! Nakakatingin kaya sya ng derecho sa mga naging kaibigan nya sa network?

Writer Noreen Capili is also dismayed on Paulate, who’s campaigning for Defensor, who was one of the reasons why ABS-CBN got shut down, leaving most Kapamilya employees jobless.
How can you support a person na dahilan para mawalan ng trabaho ang libo-libo mong kasama sa industriya?Ilang years din tumagal ang Tonight with Dick and Carmi sa 2! Anyare kay Kuya Dick? 😳😳😳 https://t.co/VNo4Sda1mu

Comedian John Lapus who is residing in Quezon City assured that Defensor will not win the election.
Sa dami ng empleyadong ng abs-cbn na nawalan ng trabaho, na nakatira sa QC (kasama na ako), hindi yan mananalo!!! #NeverForget https://t.co/5Yq2Se96Ne

Other netizens and personalities also reacted when Defensor announced his candidacy on October 14.
Defensor was one of the politicians who aggressively opposed ABSCBN’s application for a new 25-year broadcasting license during the height of the Network’s franchise renewal campaign.
The non-renewal of the Network’s franchise pushed the media company to lay off most of its employees, causing Kapamilya workers to be jobless amid the pandemic.
On September 23, Defensor even urged presidential contenders to make the Kapamilya network’s franchise renewal a non-priority issue.
