The current season of Pinoy Big Brother records its most-watched episode yet on Kumu and Kapamilya Online Live, since PBB Connect’s historic Big Night.
Pinoy Big Brother’s fans were glued to their TV and gadgets last night, November 20, as they anxiously waited for the results of the riveting voting process that kept the followers of nominated housemates, Chie, Benedix, Eian, and KD, occupied for one whole week. The new ‘unli voting’ scheme introduced by Big Brother provided new dynamics in the reality show’s eviction process, but it also earned the ire of netizens and fans who think that the new system is beneficial only to housemates who have established sponsors.
The ‘unli voting’ system allows a Kumu user to make as many BBS (vote to save) and BBE (vote to evict) votes as possible for a nominee. Previously, a user was allowed to send a fixed number of BBE and BBS votes for every nominee. The new system is implemented for 48 hours, from 8:00 PM on Thursday to 8:00 PM of Saturday. This makes changing the voting outcome possible in mere seconds, as showed by the last two evictions where the ones ranked last quickly caught up and got saved. The voting system also allows certain nominees to get targeted by fans who bombard them with BBE votes so that their preferred nominees get saved.
Last night’s eviction night could the most glaring manifestation of that flaw, as Eian and Benedix, who were initially the last two placers in the voting, even caught up and relegated Chie to the last place, in a matter of minutes.

Faulty as the new voting system may seem, it nevertheless generated bigger interest from viewers, as reflected by the dramatic rise in the show’s concurrent viewers. On YouTube alone, nearly 120,000 viewers followed the events of the eviction night, making last night’s eviction the most-watched on Kapamilya Online Live. The new record obliterated PBB Connect’s Big Night’s records that have concurrent viewers peaked at 110,000+. It also makes Pinoy Big Brother one of only three local programs, the other being FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and TV Patrol, to have more than 100,000 concurrent live viewers on YouTube.
On the streaming platform Kumu, PBB Kumunity Season 10’s live viewers peaked at more than 90,000. It made the combined Kumu and YouTube viewers of the show equal to 210,000. That’s still below PBB Connect Big Night’s 240,000, but considering it’s just the third eviction night, make the episode already an impressive feat.
