Seasoned actor Jaime Fabregas on Thursday, October 28, expressed his thought that Filipinos should still vote for the right politician even if they were bound to lose.
On his twitter, the 71-year-old actor shared, “May narinig na naman ako eh, ang sabi raw, may isang ale, sabi n’ya, ‘Mas gusto ko sana yung isang kandidato kasi sa tingin ko mas magaling at mas mahusay ‘yon. Kaya nga lang, eh hindi mananalo, ang lakas ng kalaban eh.
“Sayang ang boto ko, kung iboboto ko s’ya matatalo eh sayang ang boto ko.'”

Fabregas pointed that any vote won’t go to waste when it goes to the most deserving candidate.
“Ang tanong ko sa kanya, ‘Ale, papaanong masasayang ang boto n’yo kung ibinoto niyo yung pinaniniwalaan niyong pinakamagaling na kandidato, pinakamahusay?’
“Galing po sa loob ‘yon, galing sa puso yung botong yun eh, galing sa konsensiya niyo ang boto. Hindi po iyon sayang. Matalo man ang inyong kandidato, kayo po ay panalo dahil sinunod niyo ang inyong puso at konsensiya. Hindi po kayo talo at hindi po sayang ang inyong boto.”
The actor also shared a video of fellow artist Ces Quesada who questioned the substitution of candidates during the election.
“Sa mga raffle, bawal daw ang substitute. Pero sa eleksyon, p’wede. Bakit?” she asked.

The Commission on Election (COMELEC) said Thursday that banning substitution due to involuntary withdrawal was “not ideal” since it will subject the political party to the whim of the indecisive person.
“Banning substitution due to voluntary withdrawal is not ideal since it holds the party hostage to a candidate’s whim,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a CNN Philippines interview.
“I don’t think we should take away their ability to substitute due to voluntary withdrawal because otherwise, we will be holding the party hostage to the whim of a candidate who will file a candidacy under the pretense of good faith and later on say, ayoko na. That person will leave the party high and dry.”
