On November 5, Kapuso style icon Heart Evangelista listed the international opportunities she sacrificed for her upcoming Kapuso series I Left My Heart in Sorsogon.
During the media conference for I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, Evangelista said she sacrificed a meeting with Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, a dinner with Chaumet, and events like Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet for the teleserye.
“Sacrifices, so much, actually one thing that I missed was meeting Anna Wintour. I was supposed to meet her in her office, and I was supposed to go to the Cannes Film Festival for the High Jewelry Red Carpet.
“I was going to work with Chaumet for /a dinner or something like that. And other fashion shows, but you know there’s always a next year or a next time.”
She then clarified that she wanted to do the series because it was time for her to give back to Sorsogon and for her to return to teleseryes.
“I felt this was pivotal for me to come up with something for Sorsogon. I never really belonged to a certain province, talaga, growing up because I was always a Manila Girl.”
“Although my Mom is a Bicolana, and when I had this connection with Sorsogon, I felt like how can I do my part– of course, my husband is Governor of Sorsogon. Honestly, ako, arte-arte talaga ako. Mahilig ako sa fashion ganyan. Pero, in my own way, how can I do something for them.
“It was the time for me to do a soap, of course, I missed it so much when I started to tape. But it was time for me to go back. I’m just so happy na ang ganda ng kinalabasan ng lahat ng sinakripisyo ng lahat ng tao para sa soap na ‘to.”
Evangelista then recalled how her friends, Brandon Boyd and Christian Louboutin, expressed their interest in supporting her series.
“I was very– na touch ako honestly kasi I didn’t think that they would do that for me, especially sa caliber nila. In fact, nakakatuwa, because they were all asking, ‘how can I watch this? Where can I watch this?’ Gumaganon sila.
“And they were very, very supportive when I asked them, ‘if you guys can promote?’ Sabi nila, ‘Yes! What do you need us to do?’ Ganon, nakakatuwa.”
She also noted that her other international friends lauded Paolo Contis’ acting prowess when she showed them some of the early scenes they filmed.
“The one with Brandon [Boyd] kasi he knew from the time na nagsama kami sa L.A and I showed him Paolo [Contis]. He even said na ang talented. Kevin Kwan also saw Paolo, sabi nila, ang galing niyo at that time hindi pa kami masyado nag-e-eksena ni Richard so ‘yun ‘yung hawak kong eksena.”
Evangelista then teased that she has some “opportunities” she needs to attend in Los Angeles, California, USA, when asked about her project with the Crazy Rich Asians novel writer, Kevin Kwan.
“You know kasi Hollywood, may mga moments talaga na madaming–nabibigyan ka ng chance, nabigyan ka ng mga presentation kung anong pwede. Kaya maraming naha-heart broken sa Hollywood kasi, hangga’t hindi pa siya lumalabas sa cinema hindi ka dapat maniwala.
“So for now, I’m not the type na ire-redirect ko ‘yung buong buhay ko para mag-concentrate doon. That’s why sinabi ko na last. I can’t naman say ever, hindi kasi din naman ako ganon, kasi ako tumatanggap lang ako, kung ano man ang nandyan, I’m very grateful. It’s just may mga certain opportunities lang na sure na na kailangan ko gawin sa LA for the meantime.
“Of course, the other stuff like what I’ve been doing on the fashion side. Madami din akong mga natanggihang mga events ganyan that I feel na now is really the time for me to do all that after this soap dahil mas libre din ako.”
Evangelista stars in I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, which premieres on November 15, 2021, on GMA Primetime. The series also stars Kapuso actors Richard Yap and Paolo Contis. Joining them are Michelle Dee, Mavy Legaspi, and Kyline Alcantara.
