Why You Should See It:
Faith is at the core of Huwag Kang Mangamba’s finale week as it returns to its original mission of introducing the miracles of Jesus, a.k.a. ‘Bro’, in our lives. Now the longest teleserye to debut and end during the pandemic, Huwag Kang Mangamba allows faith to take center stage.
During the show’s finale episode on November 12, Friday, the lost faith of Hermosois was restored through the efforts of Mira (Andrea Brillantes) and Joy (Francine Diaz), who are later revealed to be biological siblings who are born to the same parents. The finale served as the answer to their questions about their identity and the fulfillment of their mission to make the people of Hermoso believe in ‘Bro’ again.
There was a time when Huwag Kang Mangamba was stalled at repetitive and unnecessary subplots, but it came back to form a few weeks before its finale. Brillantes and Diaz have been constant wonders on the show, as they have both showcased incredible depth and understanding in tackling their roles. In the finale, however, Eula Valdez and Sylvia Sanchez arguably stole the show, with Valdez getting reduced to insanity after she failed to make Hermoso’s people their god and Sanchez finally being able to see ‘Bro’ in person.
The touching return of Samuel (Diether Ocampo) to his daughters’ lives is one touching moment that indeed moved many viewers. However, it is quite disappointing that the actor did not appear personally to reprise his role. Old footage of the actor on the show and a double character, whose face was not revealed, compensated for the actor’s absence.
After eight months of being on-air, there is no doubt Huwag Kang Mangamba served its purpose. Until its last episode, the show continued to remind us we are not alone in any battles and that the true meaning of life lies in suffering. It’s a powerful reminder that we are never by ourselves in our quest to defeat the darkness because we only need to ask for Bro’s guidance, should we wish to be spared.
