Wilbert Ross, the lead star of Viva’s upcoming sexy-comedy film Crush Kong Curly, revealed on Wednesday, November 17, that Vice Ganda did not have a hand in him getting the titular role.
“Actually po si Ganda, pagdating sa mga ganyang bagay, hinahayaan niya kaming, alam mo ‘yon, mag-strive hard for that,” he said during the movie’s virtual media conference.
Ross, who is also part of It’s Showtime‘s boy group Hashtag then clarified that Vice does support them by giving them the chance to shine whenever they are on his shows.
“‘Pag nasa show niya mismo, sa Showtime, ayun yung binibigyan niya kami mismo ng chance—like sa GGV, chance to sing, chance to talk, para makita ng mga tao, sa Showtime, para may exposure.”
But when it comes to getting roles for movies or shows, Ross pointed that Vice does not lend a hand, but rather encourages them to work hard.
“Pero pagdating sa mga parang konek-konek, so far wala namang mga ganoon. Kasi alam ko kay Ganda, gusto niya na mag-strive hard kami para maabot ang gusto namin. Hindi yung parang may tulong niya or may gano’n. Pero always siyang nand’yan to support us.”
He recalled that he informed the comedian after becoming a lead star in the movie and said, “Nag-congrats lang siya sa akin, ganoon lang.”
In Crush Kong Curly, Ross is joined by Viva’s sexy star, AJ Raval.
The film is directed by GB Sampedro and is now available for streaming on Vivamax, since Wednesday, December 17.
